Position Summary:
Performs routine design assignments which require knowledge and skill in basic drafting techniques, procedures, and knowledge of nationally recognized electrical and control systems standards and industry techniques under moderate supervision.  Assignments are designed to further develop the incumbent’s job knowledge and abilities.

Position Responsibilities:

•Develops under moderate supervision, CAD drawings from design sketches or catalog information.
• Performs with some direction, basic engineering /design calculations, sizing components and layouts consistent with assigned discipline to produce efficient and workable drawings for projects.
• Communicate the design process within assigned discipline and coordinate work with other disciplines.
•With some direction, select, design and write specifications from the scope of work for tagged material or equipment of basic items necessary for execution of the scope of work.
•Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities, and implemented in work designed.
•Marks up works in progress for others to CAD.
•Prepares simple engineering and constructions drawing from scratch, sketches or verbal instruction, utilizing manual or computer-assisted drafting/design techniques.
•Performs related fundamental engineering support tasks such as updating lists, filing prints, distributing drawings, making simple calculations, proofreading reports, compiling Bills of Material, etc.
•May utilize information from vendor prints, catalogs, technical manuals, etc. to do design work.
•Field notes are neatly arranged, accurate and complete.
•Sketches are readable by anyone and include all pertinent dimensions, notes and job number.
•Competent and experienced with design codes, specifications, and standards.
•Must demonstrate a sound understanding of design concepts with minimum engineering input.
•All material is signed and dated with job number.
•Uses time efficiently.
•Keeps supervisor informed of progress.
•Quality assurance for personal work assignments.
•Supports field assignments as required.

Position Qualifications: 
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
Working knowledge in CAD

Education: 
High school education or equivalent with basic drafting courses training from vo-tech or other applicable program with a minimum of seven years of technical work experience. As an alternative, a minimum of two years of education in an associate or bachelor degree program for electrical and/or control systems plus five years of experience.
