Our client is a large utility in the southeast and they are seeking Electrical/I&C Design Engineers to add to their staff.  Perm openings in Georgia and Alabama.

Summary:
This position covers two job functions: design development AND architect/engineering firm oversight.
  • Design development includes preparing or reviewing calculations, specifications, drawings, lists of material, evaluations.
  • A/E oversight is similar to a project manager but focused on just the design development portion.
The position includes developing/maintaining fleet procedures, setting a strategic vision, participation in industry working groups, modification of drawings and calculations, field walkdowns, construction support and troubleshooting.


Requirements:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university or a PE license is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience with electrical components/systems
    • Experience with electrical components such as switchgear, breakers, cabling, transformers, relays as well as electrical systems (electrical distribution, protective relaying).
    • Background with I&C components including transmitters, sensors (flow, pressure), controls (DCIS, PLC, PIC controllers) and I&C systems (turbine controls, exciter controls, distributed controls).
  • Experience in the preparation and coordination of design changes and calculations.
  • Nuclear experience is preferred, not required.
  • Familiarity with the standard design process is preferred, not required.

Responsibilities:
  • Design engineer duties include preparation and coordination of design development, calculation development and update, drawing changes, and preparing project cost estimates and schedules for plant modifications and retrofits.
  • This position requires field walk downs in industrial environments for as-built verification and design constructability.
  • Additional duties include providing design oversight for products developed by external Architect / Engineering firms, interfacing with project managers, implementation engineers, and other plant department personnel to ensure all design requirements are met.
  • Design Engineers may have opportunities to manage special projects and perform key refueling outage roles, including design implementation oversight, problem solving and issue resolution, and conducting post modification testing.
