SSE is a leading technology company serving clients in St. Louis, MO and Jacksonville, FL for over 30 years. We are a leading provider of training solutions including courseware development, high fidelity virtual training environment development, technical data products and multi-media services for military and commercial aircraft. We are seeking an experienced Agile Project Manager to lead agile teams of programmers and software engineers in Jacksonville, FL.

Our programmers and software engineers work in an agile environment to develop virtual training environments that simulate aircraft systems. These teams build, enhance and optimize software applications and programs for the on-going development of aircraft virtual training programs.  

The Agile Project Manager (APM) position is responsible for planning, leading, organizing, and motivating Agile project teams with the following objectives:

·         Achieve a high level of performance and quality, and

·         Work closely with our clients to drive on-time, on-budget delivery to provide exceptional business value

 

Agile Project Manager Responsibilities

·         Project Planning and Management – Communicate the customer’s project scope and schedule to team leads and teams while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; organize and lead project status and working meetings (including daily SCRUMS); prepare and distribute progress reports; manage risks and issues; correct deviations from plans; and perform delivery planning for assigned projects.  Assume lead role in Project Increment (PI) planning and retro meetings

·         Team Management - Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work; leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work; and mentoring and developing team members

·         Product Owner Support - Support the customer’s Product Owner in managing end user expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance

·         Process Management and Improvement - Manage a well-defined project management process and recommend ongoing process improvement initiatives to customer in order to implement best practices for Agile Project Management

·         Team Building - Promote empowerment of the team, ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution, and encourage a sustainable pace with high-levels of quality for the team

·         Account Management – Coordinate and communicate effectively with customer contacts in understanding project scope and expectations including timelines, quality and productivity.  Provide regular updates to customer regarding project status, issues, risks and recommended solutions and improvements

 

 

Qualifications

·         Bachelors degree (computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, game development or related field)

·         This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a 'US Person' as defined by 22 C.F.R.& 120.15 is required  (US Citizen)

·         Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities

·         Current Secret security clearance or ability to obtain clearance

·         5+ years of related experience

·         2+ years project management experience

·         Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of Agile project management principles and practices

·         Proven ability to lead software development projects and ensure objectives, goals, and commitments are met

·         Demonstrated willingness to take ownership and accountability for driving team and tasks forward

·         Proven success holding team members accountability for delivery of tasks and ensuring stories are completed by the published code cutoff dates

·         Prior experience escalating issues to product owners when necessary

·         Balanced business/technical background

o   Sufficient level of technical background to provide highly-credible leadership to development teams and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues

o   Ability to provide leadership to team leads and team members and to collaborate effectively with customers

o   In-depth knowledge and understanding of business needs with the ability to establish/maintain high level of customer trust and confidence

·         Very effective interpersonal and communication skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building

·         Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands

·         Solid understanding of and demonstrated experience in using Agile Project Management tools such as VersionOne

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         PMI-ACP and/or CSM certification, or progress toward completion
