Valley Caregiver Resource Center is a non-profit agency that assists seniors and family caregivers with services ranging from counseling on Medicare benefits and prescription drug plans, to Adult Day care programs. We are looking for an experienced Director of Strategic Planning and Development with a heart for seniors and proven experience in leadership, education oversight, strategic initiatives, and cultural competency.

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Strategic Planning and Development will be responsible for overseeing the expansion of the Valley Caregiver Resource Program’s strategic growth in a nine-county region. This position will work closely with program managers and coordinators to ensure staff performance, goals, and objectives towards positioning Valley Caregiver Resources Center for long-term success.
Essential Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist in the development and operation of a coordinated caregiver education and training program in 9-county region with a focus on expansion.
  • Identify opportunities to collaborate, further develop relationships and opportunities for outreach with community providers to promote awareness of VCRC’s programs and services.
  • Prepare and present workshops to increase community awareness and knowledge on VCRC.
  • Identify service gaps through needs assessment processes of outreach, networking, and other community-oriented activities. 
  • Assist ED with strategic advocacy planning, development of local and state legislative relationships, implementation of strategic goals and contracultural agreements.
  • Oversee the supervision of staff, including setting annual goals and objectives, developing job descriptions, setting performance standards, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Design and implement staff training on cultural competency of clients.
  • Plan and conduct meetings, oversee events, and activities to recruit clients, build relations within the community and maintain good will with various constituent groups.
The desired candidate must possess the following qualifications:
  • A Masters Degree in Social Work, Social Services, Business, or related field required OR a Bachelor’s Degree and equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Program, Financial Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in nonprofit organizations and Fund Development preferred.
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to set and adhere to fiscal operational standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks under pressure of competing deadlines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. (Bilingual skills strongly preferred)
  • A valid California Driver’s License and a willingness to travel both locally and out of town.
