What You’ll Be Doing
The Materials Planner is a specific role within the Planning function that is responsible for ensuring the availability of raw materials, spare parts, and consumables when needed based on forecast, current run rate and backlog without creating excess inventory in an effort to provide our customers (internal and external) with the best possible service. The Materials Planner will collaborate cross-functionally with Hycor’s teams to maintain and replenish materials/spare parts for Manufacturing and the Service teams.  Also, this individual acts as primary liaison with Hycor’s OEM partner(s) ensuring documentation and implementation of Engineering Change Orders involving new and revised instrument components and spare parts.
 
  • Performs accurate Planning of all raw materials, spare parts and consumables to support Manufacturing, Distribution and Service requirements and places replenishment orders accordingly to avoid any stock outages
  • Monitors and tracks the status of open POs and delivery of materials and spare parts
  • Proactively reviews inventory stock levels on a weekly/monthly basis and changes in demand patterns/forecasts to ensure sufficient supply while avoiding excess inventory issues
  • Works with Purchasing team to review supplier and qualification lead-times to establish appropriate safety stock (min/max levels) and reordering points in applicable ERP system
  • Assigns part numbers for new items and completes set-up in ERP system, including BOM’s, BOO’s, and costs as applicable
  • Establishes alternative suppliers in order to maintain continuity of supply chain and reduce costs to Hycor
  • Manages the administration of Spare Parts by:
    • Keeping Field replaceable Spare Parts lists current
    • Generates or updates MPS documentation for service spare parts
  • Works closely with the Service team to assess global spare parts demand (forecasting) including regional demands for remote inventories for the following categories
    • FSE custom tools
    • PM spare parts
    • Spare parts
    • Trunk Stock
  • Conducts a monthly inventory meeting with various functions to review current inventory stock status and pending actions and open orders
  • Identifies and communicates to Finance of potential scrap costs due to technical issues, damage, expiry, or obsolescence
  • Establishes appropriate metrics to measure the effectiveness and accuracy of materials inventory planning
  • Provides feedback on Change Orders and Design Changes to product in terms of impact to current inventory position
  • Assists with logistics (supply of parts) of field retrofits and upgrades to Hycor’s Instrument Product Lines

What You’ll Bring to The Table
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent work experience related to materials inventory management for the biotech industry, including spare parts management for instrumentation
  • APICS certification or training a plus
  • 3+ years in Materials Planning and inventory management
  • Engineering experience and reading spare parts schematics for instrumentation 
  • Experience in electro-mechanical design, component-level redesign, optimization or reliability improvement involving fluidics, robotics and/or automation
  • Previous allergy and/or immunology experience helpful
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to exercise sound judgment when making decisions related to customers
  • Computer skills (DOS, Windows, Excel, Word)
  • Basic knowledge and use of MRP tool
