ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conceptual understanding of pharmaceutical GLP, cGMP, ICH-QbD guidelines, intellectual property, and regulatory requirements. Aware of industry best practices in analytical chemistry and helps set strategy for the function. Implements novel functional or cross-functional strategies to solve challenging issues.
  • May lead a functional sub-team or participate as a functional representative on other cross-functional teams.
  • Technical skills to design study protocols, and conduct experiments using analytical instruments including HPLC, GC, FT-IR, UV-VIS spectrophotometry.
  • Independently review and interpret complex analytical methods in support of formulation screening activities and implement them in the lab in a timely manner.
  • Develops analytical methods in support of early formulation work
  • Validates analytical methods with adherence to written protocols and documentation practices.
  • Performs method feasibility studies and accordingly adjusts the method parameters to produce acceptable results.
  • Independently documents the lab work in the protocol, reports, and other required documentation 
  • Consistently demonstrates quality scientific leadership in separation science. 
  • Troubleshoots complex analytical problems and develops technical solutions which require the regular use of ingenuity, creativity, and team coordination across functions.
  • Mentors co-workers within the use of complex instrumentation (HPLC, GC, FT-IR, UV, and others) and routinely provide guidance to others on multiple projects.
  • Manages multiple tasks implements standard work practices and executes projects with minimal supervision.
  • Processes strong communication skills, and ability to effectively interact with cross-functional teams.
  • Scientific contribution skills as demonstrated by posters, presentations, patents, or presentations
  • Other related duties as assigned by management.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • BS/BA in chemistry or related field with a minimum 5 years experience; or MS/MA in chemistry or related field with 2 years experience
  • Candidates should have a solid record of scientific achievement in all previous levels
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Able to perform physical activities associated with an analytical laboratory including lifting up to 50 Lbs..
