GSE Absolute, is currently working with a major client who are looking to hire an experienced Sr. Structural Engineer for a long-term contract position paying $63/hr-68/hr from their main office located in Birmingham, AL. **Local Applicants Only**
- Please note that the position is based in Birmingham, AL however they are currently working 'Remotely'.
- This position may also require visits to other plants throughout Alabama plus some other sites that are located throughout the Southeast.
- Driving is required for this position, so should have a clean driver's license.
- Local candidates preferred.
- Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) or MS in Civil/Structural Engineering from accredited institution, Professional Engineering License (PE) required.
- Position requires 15 - 20+ years minimum experience in Civil/Structural engineering related to the new construction and / or retrofit of heavy industrial facilities.
- Detailed knowledge of engineering design principles, competent in structural steel and concrete design and proficiency with structural codes (AISC Design Manual and ACI 318), standards, and industry methodologies.
- Proficiency with STAAD, PCA MATS, ANSYS is a plus, MathCAD or Excel and AutoCAD.
2) Conduct preparation of structural steel and concrete designs and calculations.
3) Conduct site walk downs of construction sites.
4) Develop cost estimates and material takeoffs.
5) Provide schedule and staffing input for projects.
6) Produce and check structural steel and concrete design calculations and drawings.
1) Knowledge of structural steel and concrete design principles and industry methodologies.
2) Structural steel connection design experience.
3) Proficiency with structural codes and standards.
4) Working knowledge of heavy industrial structures and components.
5) Computer skills - proficiency with structural computer programs such as STAAD PRO.
6) Proficiency with OSHA regulations.
7) Able to coordinate and manage multiple small to mid-sized, multi-discipline projects.
8) Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.
