TKH General Overview
The Knowledge House’s mission is to empower and sustain a talent pipeline of technologists, entrepreneurs, and digital leaders, who will uplift their communities out of poverty.
 
The Knowledge House (TKH) approach is to (1) close gaps in the education­-to-­employment pipeline in underserved Bronx neighborhoods by teaching young adults aged 16­-24 skills to launch careers or ventures in technology, and (2) support links between local youth, tech innovation, and business development that bring positive community impact. Headquartered in the South Bronx, the poorest congressional district, TKH has served more than 1,900 students. Current core programs include our Innovation Fellowship focused on software engineering, cybersecurity, and design for adult job trainees, and our Karim Kharbouch Coding Fellowship for high school students learning computational thinking and web design.

Job Summary:

The Business Development & Partnerships Manager will manage and expand our earned revenue initiatives. Your duties will include establishing networks with public and private clients, developing and maintaining a pipeline of clients, managing relationships, and negotiating deals. To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate extensive experience in business development strategies and marketing.   Activities include, but are not limited to the following:
  1. Administration / Strategy Development (50%)
    1. Analyze and expand earned revenue operations toward sustained growth
    2. Monitor revenue streams and identify opportunities to increase profitability
    3. Develop effective strategies to increase brand awareness within target markets
    4. Identify opportunities for new products and services based on ongoing competitor analysis, research, and client feedback
    5. Identify new clients by researching and creating networking opportunities
    6. Negotiate and close deals that promote sustained earned revenue
    7. Manage partner engagement to maintain satisfaction and renew MOUs or client contracts
  2. Lead Public Sector Engagement ( 25%)
    1. Work with Senior Leaders and broader network of TKH partners to identify and cultivate relationships with public sector partners, including non-profit organizations and government agencies that lead to earned revenue opportunities
    2. Meet with non-profit and government clients to discuss their needs, desires, and concerns as they relate to upskilling youth and young adults
    3. Work with team to design and pitch digital literacy and talent development workshops based on identified needs
    4. Represent TKH at community-based networking events, meetups, trainings, and engagement opportunities
  3. Lead Private Sector Engagement (25%)
    1. Work with Senior Leaders and broader network of TKH partners to identify and cultivate relationships with small businesses and  corporations that lead to earned revenue opportunities
    2. Meet with private sector clients to assess their project and talent needs
    3. Work with team to design and pitch the apprenticeship program to employers
    4. Represent TKH at in-person and virtual business and corporate networking events and engagement opportunities
       
Qualifications and Skills:
You’re an ideal candidate if you are/have:
  • 3-5 years of partner development experience ideally in a non-profit, education, or youth development environment
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Development or Marketing, or similar
  • Advanced knowledge of earned revenue business development, marketing strategies, and brand expansion
  • Experience in identifying profitable business opportunities and potential clients
  • Exceptional ability to analyze market trends and competitor behavior
  • Ability to maintain strong client relationships and establish industry partnerships
  • Competency in negotiating and closing business deals
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Organization skills and great time management; ability to multitask and manage multiple deadlines
  • Creative and innovative
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Flexibility and openness to criticism and ideas
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to produce high quality work
  • Teamwork, including actively reaching out to colleagues to support or consult on projects and maintains collaborative work environment

The full-time salary range for this role will be between $68,750-73,850. Benefits for full-time staff include health, dental, and vision insurance, a 2% 401k match, a monthly tech stipend, a weekly no-meeting day, and unlimited PTO days.
