- Client will possibly also consider 'Remote' for exceptional candidate. In this instance, candidate would ideally live close to office and be able to go in and attend in-person meetings as required.
- Hours of work: 8-5 M-F
This position is an entry level drafting position for a CAD Technician. The job calls for providing assistance to engineering and design staff in the preparation of contract engineering drawings and other related engineering materials. Position requires a fundamental understanding of drafting practices and drawing presentation.
Responsibilities
- Develop scaled civil site plans with grading, paving, and drainage from various media including sketches, PDF’s, and CAD drawings provided by engineers and senior design staff
- Develop piping alignments to generate plan and profile 2D drawings for both site and linear infrastructure projects from sketches provided by engineers and senior design staff
- Coordination of drawing production activities between all disciplines at the project level
- Provide quality checking of drafted products and conformance with drawing production standards and project specific CAD requirements
Qualifications
- Highly motivated self-starter, results-driven and teamwork oriented
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Detail oriented, organized and have good follow-up skills
- General understanding of survey practices, including geo-referencing utilizing grid/ground coordinate systems
- Demonstrated proficiency in the development of 2D civil design drawings and a working knowledge of 3D design concepts
- Exposure to Autodesk Civil 3D
- Proficient with AutoCAD or MicroStation 2D functions
Preferred Qualifications
- Fundamental knowledge of industry pipe standards such as AWWA and ANSI B16
- Basic understanding of engineering drawing development in water and wastewater facilities
- Minimum of 1‐2 years’ experience working in engineering design
- Associate degree in related technical field
