Description
The Lead Engineer will be responsible for leading a team of Project Engineers in regards to all oversight on large and small Natural Gas projects. The Lead Engineer will assist the Vice President of Engineering in the process of designing and permitting the required utilities with the appropriate agencies. Quality and standard reviews of ongoing projects will be one of the primary responsibilities of this position.   

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Direct responsibility for production of construction plans and permitting.
  2. Familiarity with putting together permit applications for TxDOT, County, and City submittals.
  3. Design tasks may include layout of offsite and onsite natural gas systems.
  4. Act as point of contact with agency reviewers.
  5. Plans, designs, and oversees civil engineering projects, such as natural gas pipelines and fiber optic cable.
  6. Calculates cost and determines feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data, applying knowledge and techniques of engineering, and advanced mathematics.
  7. Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for project.
  8. Inspects construction site to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards.
  9. May use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
  • 2-6 years of related experience
  • Experience with residential and/or site development.
  • Experience using ArcMap, ArcGIS, and smartsheets
  • Strong technical skills including the of and proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detailed and in-depth understanding of local codes and regulations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Understanding of Texas RRC regulatory requirements pertaining to natural gas utility and transmission operations.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software programs, including spreadsheet, word processing, database, notepad, and PDF applications.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work with personnel at all levels, both within and outside the company.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail with excellent follow-through skills.
  • Travel > 20% to client meetings and project sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Cumulative GPA over 3.3 preferred.
  • Registered EIT or PE in Texas is preferred.
