Go to work as a GEAR ENGINEER for one of the leading precision manufacturing aerospace companies in the United States.  They focus on the fabrication of flight critical gears and transmissions, accessory gearbox assemblies, rotorcraft drive systems, and other machined and fabricated parts for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft (such as the Apache and Chinook helicopters).

Location is just 15 miles SW of Chicago, IL.


Gear Engineer Requirements:
  • Preferred – B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline OR Technology Diploma in subjects related to tool design and process engineering.
  • Extensive shop experience related to gear manufacturing, assembly, and quality control.
  • Background in designing the manufacturing process and troubleshooting problems.
  • Understanding of gear calcs, spiral bevel grinding spur gear grinding, cobbing, shaping, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts and 6-Sigma defect analysis.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Gear Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Plan gear manufacturing processes, develop manufacturing data for gears and related components.
  • Determine processes, operation sequence, dimensions and tolerances.
  • Prepare route sheets, operation sheets and picture sheets.
  • Analyze and solve problems related to gear manufacturing.
  • Supply technical advice and assists production and inspection to develop proper procedures/methods/standards.
  • Recommend special spline and gear processing tooling, prepare essential data for PO.
  • Assist in determining gear processing and tool requirements for cost estimating.
  • Advise/assist customers in the design/development of gearing and gear data
  • Establish specialized tooling requirements and design for the ger manufacturing process.
