The Operations Manager’s primary role is to implement the right processes and practices across the Production Department. The specific duties of an Operations Manager include formulating strategy, improving performance, overseeing procuring of material, inventory and resources, along with, scheduling and managing the flow of assembly and machine shop, reviewing manufacturing labor and material data to identify areas for labor efficiencies/deficiencies and cycle time improvements; managing personnel and facilitating procedures for the assembly, machine shop and quality departments.
JOB DUTIES
Essential Job Functions:
At MMT SYNEO, each role contributes to the success of the company. The Operations Manager will:
  • Coordinate the execution of all manufacturing activities associated with machine assemblies at both assembly and sub-assembly levels including interaction with sister manufacturing facility for machined component demands with a focus on meeting delivery dates.
  • Oversee the planning and scheduling of workflow for each department according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times. 
  • Direct activities engaged in expediting flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments and in scheduling production operations.
  • Evaluate written data, such as job orders, product specifications and operations sheets, parts and materials inventory lists, and machine and worker production rates, to establish efficient allocation and scheduling of parts, materials, machines, and sequences of operations and workflow.
  • Manage machine shop, assembly, inventory, quality control and shipping and receiving work center personnel and maintain adherence to manufacturing procedures and process controls with a focus on increased production output and reduced labor expense.
  • Confers with production personnel to resolve problems affecting production schedules.
  • Perform administrative functions, to include activities such as hire, train, develop, and performance manage qualified staff.
  • Review manufacturing outcomes and recommend improvements to Engineering department focused on improving assembly efficiencies and reducing/controlling manufacturing cost while maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process for manufacturing and provide appropriate manufacturing status information to SYNEO leadership team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position primarily involves sitting at a computer for long periods of time.  May also involve kneeling, crouching, reaching, and lifting to 25 lbs.  This position may also require the following physical requirements on a Frequent/Occasional/Seldom basis as noted below:
 
  • Frequently required to stand, sit, and walk
  • Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl
  • Frequently required to talk or hear
  • Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
  • Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items up to 25 pounds (over 25 lbs. with assistance)
  • Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong working knowledge with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Dynamics GP desired
  • Knowledge of ISO9001-2008/2015

We are seeking a manager who delivers effective results, meets deadlines, and completes tasks which align with company objectives. The successful candidate would possess the following qualifications:
 
  • EXPERIENCE – 10+ years operations management, project management or manufacturing engineering experience in a technical manufacturing environment.
  • EDUCATION – Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Industrial Manufacturing, Business Management, or related field, or equivalent managerial experience in a manufacturing environment.  Verification of education may be required as a condition of employment.
  • CERTIFICATIONS – Six Sigma-LEAN background preferred
  • LANGUAGES – English required; Spanish bilingual preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS

This position will require the ability to work under pressure in a professional and responsive manner.  Must work to drive tasks through to completion, displaying the ability to obtain results through an influential diplomatic demeanor.  This position will work in a variety of indoor environments which may include but are not limited to Office, Warehouse, Machine Shop.
