Job Summary:
The Pipe Stress Engineer role is mainly responsible for the evaluation, analysis, and recommendation for the piping scope on refinery or petrochemical EPCM projects. Knowledge in static equipment design is a plus. The position is geared towards mid-level engineers willing to work under supervision of a Lead Engineer. 

Job Qualifications & Skills:
  • 7 Years + of applicable experience in Refinery, Petrochemical, and/or EPC Industries.  
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards (including API 610, API 650, API 660, API 661, ASME B31.3, ASME BPVC, etc.) Proficient with CAESAR II, FE/Pipe, NozzlePro  Ability to conduct a field trip to an operating plant.
  • This requires normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required. 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities: 
Develop piping flexibility and stress reports with CAESAR II Software. Prepare calculations to address issues such as two phase flow, water hammer, cyclic service, differential settlement, wind, seismic, PSV thrust force, etc.
Perform FEA evaluation of stresses at nozzles, or for determining user calculated SIFs, using NozzlePro, FE/Pipe or other FEA software. 
Identify critical lines requiring pipe stress analysis, review line list to ensure adequate level of criticality is defined, make sound engineering judgements on existing pipe that interacts with project scope. 
Estimate man-hours and participate in the development of the project schedule, track reporting status, maintain completion of deliverables on schedule and change management. 

Produce detailed analysis reports ensuring compliance with industry/client codes, work processes, and standards. Experience in static equipment design is a plus (vessels and tanks).
