As a Biomedical Clinical Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and supervising a medical equipment management program which is compliant with applicable healthcare standards and regulatory agencies and developing a curriculum for a continuing education program that addresses the safe and effective use of medical technology. You will implement and directly manage a recall and safety alert program for medical devices, including medical device hazard investigations, to assure compliance with patient safety goals, SMDA (Safe Medical Devices Act), and TJC (The Joint Commission) requirements and will perform capital asset and infrastructure planning for medical equipment from initial concept, installation, and effective implementation of complex medical equipment. You will function as the subject matter expert in the field of biomedical engineering, directly supporting specialized clinical technology, including service, system administration, training, quality assurance, and life-cycle management.  You will directly advise clinical and administrative staff on medical technology, including existing and emerging technology, which addresses viability, long-term suitability, compatibility, and/or safety; to apply project management principles to deployment of medical equipment and health information technologies.

Ability to work alongside clinical staff and maintain professional rapport in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language.
Familiarity with the Biomedical field including its’ concepts, practices, and procedures.
Required Experience or Qualifications:

Must possess 5 or more years of experience with at least 3 years in a hospital or healthcare setting with direct experience maintaining medical equipment or managing a hospital medical equipment program.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or Certification as a Clinical Engineer (CCE).
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of concepts related to computer based medical systems, networking protocols, and information security as it applies to medical terminology within the VHA, DOD (Department of Defense), or other medical institutions.
Understanding of regulatory agencies’ requirements, industry regulatory requirements and International Standard Organization (ISO) standards.
Must provide documentation of eligibility to legally work in the United States.
Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Candidates are required to pass a background check and possess the ability to pass a NACI background investigation and acquire a CACard.
Preferred Experience or Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biomedical Engineering Technology or a closely related field.

Work Conditions and Special Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs., push/pull equipment to and from carts, kneel, stand, bend, and reach during equipment repair or maintenance.
Willingness and ability to travel as required.
Salary and Benefits:

We provide a competitive Salary Program commensurate with proven and related skills and demonstrated experience in recognition of the educational requirements for this position.

Salary Rate: $ 58.34 per hour on a long-term, 3-year contract with full benefits.
