Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Production Planner is responsible for organizing and scheduling shop floor production according to delivery requirements. You will ensure the schedule that our goods are produced to is focused for on time for delivery to internal production departments as well as final shipment. An excellent production planner is well-versed in production scheduling and ways to optimize it. They are organized and results-driven with great problem-solving skills. Advanced communication, understanding of ERP systems, and computer skills are required for the role. The goal is to ensure the smooth and cost-efficient flow of our production operations. Cross-functional collaboration with the engineering and production and supply chain team is required
Overview
  • Create and manage production schedules for one or multiple product lines
  • Plan and prioritize production schedules to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay
  • Manage a schedule that coordinates manpower, equipment and raw materials needed to cover production demand
  • Monitor jobs to ensure they will finish on time and within budget
  • Address issues when they arise aiming for minimum disruption
  • Track output information (number of finished products, percentage of on time delivery, etc.)
  • Prepare and submit status and performance reports
  • Collaborate with supply chain, operations, quality control, warehouse and other staff
  • Cross train co-workers as needed
Essential duties and responsibilities (not inclusive)
  • Proven experience as production planner
  • Excellent knowledge of production planning and quality control principles
  • Experience in MRP II (Manufacturing resource planning)
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems
  • Good at math and statistics
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills; both verbal and written
  • Great interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with team members from different departments
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload based on product due dates
  • Experience in manufacturing setting
Necessary Work Skills (not inclusive)
  • Microsoft Excel, Word
  • Strong Computer Skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
Physical demands and abilities (not inclusive)
  • Basic reading skills. Must be able to follow directions
  • Regularly lift 20-30 pounds
  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks
  • Must be willing to work on their feet for a portion the shift
  • Follow company procedures and directives.
Requirements
  • 3 –5 years' experience as a production planner
  • Associate degree preferred
