GSE Workforce Solutions, is currently working with a major client who are in the power industry in the Lake Mary, FL geographical location. They are looking to hire a Process Engineer within the Power Generation industry starting asap! 

SUMMARY
The Process Engineer is responsible for performing the process engineering design functions.  These include the design of combustion and steam turbine auxiliary systems, process equipment, process control/instrumentation design integration and start-up support.  The designs must meet contract and schedule requirements for power projects in the Americas.
The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical or Chemical Engineering Degree and at least 3 years of experience with an EPC firm or combustion/steam turbine OEM.  This position requires an individual who is a self-starter and can work with minimal supervision and possess effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare heat and material balances, PFDs.
  • Develop P&IDs.
  • Develop Process data sheets for both instrumentation and equipment.
  • Understanding of Process instrumentation and control principles.
  • Able to perform and review hydraulic calculations.
  • Control Valve specification and selection experience desired but not required.
  • Heat exchanger thermal calculations.
  • Pump sizing.
  • Basic understanding of design work processes and workflow.
  • Travel - Up to 10%
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION
  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from a four-year ABET accredited College or University and 3-8 years’ experience with an EPC firm or combustion/steam turbine OEM.
    • Must have experience with managing P&ID’s, experience with hydraulic calculations, experience with heat and material balances.
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • A practical understanding of simple and combined cycle power plant design and construction methods.
    • Experience with combustion or steam turbine auxiliaries’ system design.
    • Experience commissioning combustion or steam turbines.
    • Experience with HAZOP, SIL reviews, construction punch-out, and project startup activities.
    • Hands-on experience with Smart Plant P&ID.
  • Technical Knowledge: Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Fluid dynamics, P&IDs
  • Computer Skills: Advanced MS Excel, VBA Programming (not required but will need to learn VBA if hired)
  • Communication Skills: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfortable speaking to groups.
