Position: Senior Piping Designer III
Location: Midland, Michigan
Start Date: December 2022 / January 2023
Position Summary:
Performs routine to difficult design assignments, which require knowledge and skill in basic drafting techniques, procedures, knowledge of applicable industry standards, and design standards. Supervises other design personnel. Assignments are designed to further develop the incumbent’s job knowledge and abilities.
Position Responsibilities:
Independently develops CADD drawings from scratch utilizing design sketches or catalog information.
Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities, and implemented in work designed.
Plans the work for the design team.
Participates in preparation of and maintains the budget for the design effort.
Reviews and is responsible for meeting the schedule and advising management of schedule errors and deviations from the schedule.
Prepares complex engineering and construction drawings from scratch, sketches or verbal instruction, utilizing manual or computer-assisted drafting/design techniques.
Prepares man-hour estimates for new projects and changes in design.
Assures project and company procedures are followed.
Checks (and takes the responsibility for) the work of other designers and drafters.
Mentors less experienced drafters and designers.
Supports field assignments as required for field data acquisition, which includes walking, climbing, and taking measurements.
Position Qualifications:
Experience with P3D/BIM360.
Must have good visualization, directional and spatial skills for designing pipe routing and equipment settings.
AutoCAD/Cadworx/Microstation proficiency.
Proven ability to mentor less experienced drafters and designers.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Must be able to provide QA for personal work assignments.
Education:
Three (3) years of experience and college degree and/or experience in lieu based on knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
12-15 plus years of relevant experience preferred.
