Position Description:
National Grid Renewables’ meteorology team is responsible for field data collection and analysis, renewable energy system modeling, short- and medium-term weather forecasting, and review of operational facility performance.  In this role the Meteorology Intern will have an opportunity to make significant contributions to the success of projects in all phases of their lifecycle, and receive exposure to various aspects of the renewable energy industry.

Duties:
  • Process and review data collected by field measurement systems
  • Simulate energy production of projects under development
  • Analyze and report on weather/production forecasts for operating facilities
  • Participate in team and project meetings to gain exposure to other aspects of the business
  • Complete an end-of-program presentation with a topic to be determined by intern and manager.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Enrolled in or completed a course of study in meteorology, engineering, or other scientific field
  • Experience with scientific programming languages (e.g. MATLAB, Python)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with GIS
