Job Title: Resource Nurse/Charge Nurse (RN)-Medical Surgical Unit-Cape Fear Valley Health

**$20,000 Retention Bonus for Experienced RNs** 
***Relocation Incentive up to $7,000**

We are looking for Resource Nurses (RN) to join our Medical Surgical Unit in Fayetteville, NC.  We currently have Full-Time openings on the Night shift only. Looking for an Internal Contract? We have those too!
Units With Openings: 4 North-Medical Surgical Telemetry, 5 South- Medical Surgical Oncology, 6 South- Medical Surgical Pulmonary


Major Job Functions:

The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time.
  1. Completes daily patient assignments.
  2. Rounds with the physicians
  3. Acts as point of contact for the physicians and administrators.
  4. Serve as a resource to staff nurses, nursing assistants, monitors techs, and unit secretaries.
  5. Assists with procedures, and checks orders.
  6. Responsible for daily QC and equipment checks on the unit.
  7. Evaluates daily patient acuity.
  8. Assists the PCM in evaluating personnel work performance in terms of performance criteria and staff relations.
  9. May assist with the development of monthly staff schedule.
  10. Assists with clinical education of staff members in the absence of a Clinical Educator/Preceptor.
  11. Rounds on patients and family members at regular intervals.
  12. Interfaces with the Care Coordinator and discharge planning.
  13. Interfaces with Patient Placement and nursing supervisors.
  14. Expected to take patient assignments when other staffing options have been exhausted.
  15. Implement process as defined by the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP).
    • Facilitate and monitor staff performance relative to Press Gainey/HCAAPS
    • Communicate effectively with leadership, physicians, and staff.
    • Resource Nurse carries a cell phone to facilitate improved and timely communication.
  16. Other duties as deemed necessary by management.

Registered Nurse Education and Experience Requirements:
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Work Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a Medical Surgical Unit. Or end of life/hospice/cancer center experience for our Oncology Unit. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required: Positive interpersonal skills. Effective organizational, teaching, and leadership skills.
Physical Requirements: Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs. Visual acuity for observation of patients. Much standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Position may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.

Education and Formal Training: Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure.


Work Experience: None.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required: Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills. Verbal and written skills required. Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skills. Is knowledgeable of the age-specific physiological, psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual needs of the patients typically served.
