Job description:

Plans, prepares, and coordinates project & organizational reports used to document status, variances, progress, track indicators, and control changes to projects or programs.

  • Supports the annual and long-range planning process by analyzing trends, developing cost/schedule forecasts, cash flows, and recommending budget adjustments.
  • Assists in developing project prioritization. prepares summary & detail level reports & trend analyses to keep plant/regional/program managers aware of the impact of forecasted or actual changes on their budgets & spending plans.
  • Presents projects to project approval board (PAB). assists the project team by preparing schedules, estimates, economic evaluations, project cost/benefit analysis, and PAB packages.
  • Processes project change requests & analyzes their impact on the project schedule and budget. Supports processes including lessons learned, work authorization, work management, and process improvement.
  • Tracks, major contract costs and reports variances.
  • Prepares risk analysis reports & recommendations.
  • Provides field support during outages & interfaces with engineering, plant, & partners on a continuous basis.

May be responsible for developing/revising scheduling (or other) data management tools & methods; implementing & maintaining system improvements; and creating/managing links to other sources. Tracks the physical progress of a project to ensure work is developing as planned. Conducts selective project walk-downs to verify that progress reported is accurate and costs are charged to the proper work activities. Prepares project closure documents and does root cause analysis to explain project cost, schedule, and performance variances.


Education and experience/certificates, licenses, and registration requirements/other requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field, or equivalent. several years’ experience in a construction, engineering, or generating plant environment is desirable. detailed knowledge of project control practices, methods, procedures. Certification by the project management institute or AACE international is desired as evidence of proficiency.
