Purpose: 
The Imaging Coordinator position is responsible for the coordinating plans and diagnostic imaging policies, procedures, and services for several departments which may include nuclear medicine, radiology and computer-assisted tomography. Ensures efficient and effective departmental operations. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Duties and assignments may vary at the discretion of management.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
 
  • Handles and resolves any patient conflicts and issues at the point of service, with tact and professional diplomacy.  Keeps Operations Director informed of any serious or potentially sensitive issues.
  • Coordinates scheduling of all scans for the 4s and San Marcos office. This includes reviewing all coding and authorizations for appointments.
  • Participate in the development of goals, objectives, procedures and priorities within the Imaging Department
  • Ensures all necessary information has been obtained prior to the imaging appointments, schedules appointments, confirms appointments, collects information needed for imaging studies, and requests records in a timely manner
  • Ensures referring physicians and patients are kept well-informed of delays, concerns, and each step of the process is followed
  • Reconciles imaging files to ensure institutional compliance for billing.
  • Track monthly volumes and coordinate with Director of Imaging on reporting.
  • Complete imaging unsigned charge list on a daily basis.  
  • Complete all imaging tasks on a daily basis.
  • Cover for imaging scheduler and imaging aide as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Experience, Qualifications/Education:
 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong customer service background, preferably in health care environment
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Competence with computer processing functions and other standard office equipment
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to calmly and professionally resolve customer issues with diplomacy and tact
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational skills

Working Conditions:
 
  • This position functions primarily indoors in a medical / business environment. Employee may be subject to blood borne pathogens, radiation, bio waste and other medically-related factors, with exposure to moderate noise levels.
  • Visual acuity to read and compute screen and paper documents; close and distance vision, peripheral vision depth perception, ability to adjust focus; hearing acuity to converse with staff and customers; ability to walk, stoop, bend, kneel, and lift and move 25 pounds on a regular basis; ability to sit for hours at a time. Employee will be exposed to moderate noise levels, interruptions, and occasionally asked to work evening and weekends as needed.
