Job Description 

The Contractor shall perform systems and server administration to ensure the systems sets and 

servers are available to the user at all times. This requires the Contractor to monitor the systems 

and ensure they are operating at peak efficiency. The contractor shall identify and resolve any 

degradation, unusual activities or system downtime. The Contractor shall immediately notify 

the designated Government representative of any instances of system degradation, unusual 

activities and or system downtime. 

The Contractor shall: 

9.3.1. Perform system and server backups and restoration of systems/servers as required. 

Backups will be performed in accordance with CASCOM and NETCOM policies and 

procedures. This shall be accomplished transparently to the users. The Contractor shall also 

ensure the redundant file system structure (integral parts of some operating/network systems) 

operate efficiently to ensure the data is current and accurate. The Contractor shall ensure that 

archived data and media is documented and handled in accordance with CASCOM and 

NETCOM policies and procedures. 

 

9.3.2. Perform server administration to include the administration of file, web, SQL, or printer 

servers. Administrative duties shall include, but are not limited to, installation, configuration, 

set-up, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and decommissioning of servers and associated 

equipment and hardware. Contractor employees shall also create and service accounts and server 

data repository. 

 

9.3.3. Perform customer service and support to include service desk tickets, from end-user 

workstations to associated server, telephone requests, walk-in support requests and escort of 

vendors into server rooms. Contractor employees shall work with external Government 

resources to resolve customer issues, as needed. 

 

9.3.4. Install and maintain the current software product baseline; these products are expected to 

change over the life of the contract and will be redefined by the CASCOM G-6. The contractor 

shall coordinate installation of new software and update schedules directly with the COR as 

coordinated with the Division Chief or the Division Team Lead. The Government is the 

approving authority and can modify proposed schedules to meet mission requirements IAW 

the terms and guidelines of the contract. 

 

9.3.5. Perform configuration management, in accordance with CASCOM and NETCOM policies 

and procedures. Maintain, modify or repair: Server core, Server Builds upgrades and patching. 

Provide Training Department Quality Assurance Server Support, which includes patching, 

database management and the monitoring of systems. 

 

9.3.6. Perform testing and troubleshooting of all systems within the scope of specific duties 

assigned. 

 

9.3.7. Perform daily inspections and vendor recommended tests on all computer systems and 

network components. These inspections and test shall be scheduled not to interfere with the 

normal operation of the IT infrastructure. Inspections may be visual; however, some may require 

removing an assembly for better access to the item undergoing inspection. The Contractor shall 

conduct tests to determine if the equipment is operating within tolerances specified by the 

vendor. The Contractor shall maintain a continuing record of these inspections and tests using 

approved trouble processing procedures. Any inspections which would interrupt normal duty 

operations shall have the prior approval of the COR as coordinated with the Division Chief or 

the Division Team Lead. 

 

9.3.8. Shall assist in on-hand product analysis; network/system expansion analysis; system 

documentation analysis; user instruction or training; and system and network operations. The 

Government will make all decisions on hardware and software products. The Contractor shall be 

required to analyze requirements and propose best solutions for network approaches. 

 

9.3.9. Provide the necessary expertise to ensure all system nodes and supporting network are 

maintained in an operational state. The Contractor shall ensure all software maintenance 

performed by the Contractor or within the Contractor’s span of control conforms to Department 

of Defense (DoD), Department of the Army (DA), the Network Enterprise Technologies 

Command, the Training and Doctrine Command, the Combined Arms Support Command, and 

local installation regulations, policies, procedures and guidance. Publications outlining these 

standards will be made available to the Contractor. 

 

9.3.10. Perform administration and customer support of Microsoft website host servers, 

Microsoft SharePoint servers, and sites. 

 

9.3.11. Perform Active Directory administration to include account creation/deletion, rights 

assignment and the troubleshooting of accounts. 

 

9.3.12. Perform storage administration and maintenance to include that of Storage Area Network 

(SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices. Tasks include configuration, 

troubleshooting, and corrective maintenance as well as maintaining high availability while 

preserving the Active Directory security access control. 

 

9.3.13. Lifecycle replacement of servers, storage area network devices, file area servers and 

applicable equipment will include disassembling servers, IT equipment, server racks and/or 

shelving. Contractor employees may have to move disassembled equipment to a consolidated 

space or from one location to another. The server building process includes all backups, 

databases and associated accounts. Contractor employees shall reassemble all IT related 

equipment at the new location. 

 

9.3.14. Perform periodic reimaging and systems builds for SAP Enterprise Resource Planning 

(ERP) technology training systems. 

 

9.3.15. Setup newly fielded Program of Instructions equipment, train other contract employees 

on the use of the newly fielded equipment, gather training requirements, and create databases 

and configure the network. 

 

9.3.16. Maintain the Operational Research System Analysis (ORSA) private network by 

performing workstation imaging, File server configuration and support, and the patching of 

network connections. 

Qualifications 

  • Clearance:  Active Secret (must be US Citizen)  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field of study, or five (5) years related experience for the Server Administrator position. 

  • 8570.01-M IAT Level II; Must Obtain appropriate Computing Environment (CE) certification for the operating system(s) and/or security related tools/devices they will support. 

  • Must have a server-related certification (i.e., Microsoft Server 2016, AWS Cloud Practitioner, etc.) 

  • Eight (8) or more years related experience for the IT Tech IV position. 

  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience supporting a Microsoft Windows-based environment in an IT Tech IV position. 

  • SA-Minimum of five (5) years’ experience supporting Microsoft, Solaris, or other server-based environment in a Server/Systems Administrator position. 

  • Must have at least three or more years of specialized experience working with Windows Server 2003/2008/2012, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway (Forefront TMG), formerly known as Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server (ISA), Share Point, SQL Server 2005/2008/2012, and Active Directory planning and implementation. Candidate must be able to support current releases of all OS and applications.   

  • Experience deploying Microsoft Windows systems. 

  • Experience in DoD architectures and communications initiatives such as tactical networks, and commercial satellite communications, LAN, systems administration, configuration management tools and techniques, and the knowledge and experience setting up and managing software testing labs.
