The Knowledge House’s mission is to empower and sustain a talent pipeline of technologists, entrepreneurs, and digital leaders, who will uplift their communities out of poverty.
 
The Knowledge House (TKH) approach is to (1) close gaps in the education­-to-­employment pipeline in underserved Bronx neighborhoods by teaching young adults aged 16­-24 skills to launch careers or ventures in technology, and (2) support links between local youth, tech innovation, and business development that bring positive community impact. Headquartered in the South Bronx, the poorest congressional district, TKH has served more than 1,900 students. Current core programs include our Innovation Fellowship focused on software engineering, cyber security, and digital design for adult job trainees, and our Karim Kharbouch Coding Fellowship for high school students learning computational thinking and web design.

Job Summary:
The Senior Manager of Grants & Institutional Giving  supports fundraising efforts, including CRM management, , managing funder relationships, and managing  funder deliverables , including grant proposals, data reports, and fundraising collateral. The Senior Manager of Grants & Institutional Giving will also support the administrative tasks of the Development team including preparing for meetings with funders, scheduling, email correspondence, and data upkeep.  Activities include, but are not limited to the following:
 
  1. CRM Administration and Reporting (15%)
    1. Maintaining Development team’s institutional giving dashboard by updating meeting notes, scheduled meetings and next steps
    2. Prepare for Development meetings and step backs
    3. Responsible for team management of CRM data entry and reporting,  and maintenance of CRM platform
 
  1. Relationship Management and Stewardship (20%)
    1. Serve as the primary steward of the institutional giving program, encompassing corporate foundations,  independent foundations, and government agencies.
    2. Support the acquisition of new institutional partners  for TKH’s local work and national expansion, including identifying and researching new institutional giving prospects, crafting engagement plans, and cultivating relationships.
    3. Manage funder relationships through strategic outreach and meaningful touch points (e.g. site visits, attending TKH events, connecting with alums).
    4. Develop and maintain prospect pipelines, implementing engagement plans that include the CEO, Program Director and other key stakeholders.
 
  1. Grants & Reports (50%)
    1. Coordinate with team of consultants (Hudson Ferris and Effectx) to draft, review, and submit grant proposals, reports, and prospect research.
    2. Manage the grant and reports calendars.
    3. Manage grant submissions in collaboration with the grant writer to produce. creative and compelling grant proposals that articulate The Knowledge House’s mission, outcomes, and success.
    4. Collaborate across teams to fulfill reporting requirements, ensuring that all deadlines and budgetary goals are met.
    5. Support storytelling efforts to highlight specific TKH achievements, including student success and broader community impact.
    6. Develop reports on partnership status, categories, and support the grant outcomes report, specifically owning reports for fee for service partners.
 
  1. Administrative Support (15%)
    1. Assist with drafting correspondence and development materials.
    2. Support creation of funder stewardship messages, email replies, gifts, and reports that increase giving.
    3. Coordinate scheduling of meetings and events for the development team
    4. Schedule weekly funder follow-up times, funder site visits, and keep notes of all funder meetings and debriefs.
    5. Scheduling funder meetings and site visits and updating next steps, ensuring 48- hour follow-up.
    6. Tracking progress to development goals as shown on the outcomes scorecard.
 
You’re an ideal candidate if you are/have:
  • Undergraduate degree required
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a professional nonprofit setting
  • Extremely well organized and persistent about accomplishing your goals
  • Have great communication and people skills
  • Computer proficiency, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive, social media, and fundraising databases; experience with development CRMs
  • Great time management skills
  • Being able to work in ambiguous and fast-paced environments
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Calm under pressure, with strong follow-through and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to produce high-quality work
  • Effective communication skills, including clear writing and professional email

The full-time salary range for this role will be between $75K-84K. Benefits for full-time staff include health, dental, and vision insurance, a 2% 401k match, a monthly tech stipend, a weekly no-meeting day, and unlimited PTO days.
