About The Knowledge House:
The Knowledge House’s mission is to empower and sustain a talent pipeline of technologists, entrepreneurs, and digital leaders, who will lift their communities out of poverty. Current core programs include our Innovation Fellowship focused on software engineering, cybersecurity, and digital design for adult job trainees, and our Karim Kharbouch Coding Fellowship for high school students learning computational thinking and web design.

Role Overview
The Knowledge House is seeking interns for the Spring/Summer 2023 Internship Program. Interns assist the company with technical, administrative and strategic tasks set out by various teams, such as support with research, scheduling, class instructional support, data capturing and coordination of events. Interns will build important skills, add to their portfolios, and network. Please find full descriptions of each internship role on page 2.

Internship Role Descriptions
 


Digital Literacy Program Assistant  (in-person instruction)
  • Instruction and Course Delivery
    • Assist with conducting weekly, 3-hour Saturday class between at 10:00 - 1:00pm ET in-person at a Westchester worksite.
    • Assist with conducting weekly 3-hour virtual class on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 9:00pm ET
    • Assist with taking attendance during class sessions, and classroom set up
  • Curriculum Tasks
    • Support with sourcing and updating instructional materials
    • Meet with Instructor as needed to prepare for workshops and debrief on class sessions, collaboratively identifying opportunities to engage learners.
    • Preview and test course assessments for custom and fellowship programs and provide feedback.
 


Junior Web Design (remote)
  • Web Design Services:
    • Customizing client site templates on third party site builders such as Squarespace or shopify
    • Ensuring designs are functional across all devices
    • Wireframing new applications as needed
  • Digital Marketing Services
    • Optimize client site for SEO, integrating web analytics tracking software
    • Integrate social media platforms, mailing list services and automated emails
  • Onboard Client to all technology tools and reporting panels
    • Work with client to show them how to navigate all reporting dashboards and tools
    • Work with client to set up specific  custom reports as needed to the extent the platforms allow
  • Progress Reporting:
    • Conduct a bi weekly scrum with the Assistant PM
 




Graphic/UX UI Design Intern (remote
  • Use Figma to assist in creating wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes for both web and mobile digital products
  • Help plan user research efforts using both moderated and unmoderated methodologies
  • Assist in generating data from user research techniques such as interviews, surveys, polls, card sorting studies, tree testing, and usability tests
  • Help to organize research data to create meaningful insights using research synthesis techniques such as user personas, affinity mapping, and feature prioritization matrices
  • Assist in creating, modifying, and maintaining design systems and pattern libraries
  • Help with documenting the structure of digital products using Information Architecture techniques such as sitemaps and user flows
 


Data Maintenance Intern  (remote)
We are looking for someone to:
  • Assist TKH staff as data tracking transitions into Salesforce
  • Support data entry, clean up, and migration
  • Use database management tools to extract, load, and mutate data
  • Utilize basic statistics principles to answer, explain, and propose relevant questions regarding internal data
  • Supporting our operations team in managing new asks
  • Perform research on current benchmark trends and audience preferences
  • Research appropriate business development opportunities and grant opportunities including the application requirements, fit, and deadlines
  • Updating the operations and development dashboard with updates, meeting schedules and next steps, revenue and prospect updates
  • Updating trackers based on progress updates
 













Social Media & Marketing Intern  (remote)
We are looking for someone to:
  • Create and analyze content for all of our different social media  platforms: Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
  • Reach new partners, assist in recruiting fellows and drive traffic into The Knowledge House.
  • Creating original content and supporting the strategic creation of new content.
  • Prioritize our company image in a cohesive way to achieve our strategic goals and increase impressions.
  • Design and implement social media strategy to align with business goals
  • Generate, edit and share engaging content daily (e.g. original text, photos, videos and news)
  • Suggest and implement new features to develop brand awareness, like promotions and competitions
 


Community Outreach Intern  (hybrid, in person events as needed)
Community Outreach and Engagement
  • Coordinate and deliver career exploration and digital literacy programming to general public that increases applications to TKH
  • Assist with planning and promoting TKH events and workshops to students, alumni and the local community, especially in person
  • Support students’ development by sharing their stories with the local community and organizing student engagement events.
  • Conduct research and outreach to secure local referral and supportive service partners who can provide support  services as needed
Administrative Support
  • Update a database of community and service partner outreach
  • Track applicant activity and evaluations
  • Support the Program Manager in updating the program calendar, planning events, and promoting the organization
  • Coordinate with the development team to prepare proposals, presentations, and reports as needed
