An Interventions Specialist at Kingsman Academy is a key part in ensuring students are able to overcome any behavioral and/or academic challenges they face. The Intervention Specialist works with staff, students, and parents to provide academic and behavior supports to ensure a safe, respectful, and positive learning community. The Intervention Specialist reports to the Director of Interventions.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

As an interventions specialist with Kingsman, you will:

  • Collaborate with key staff to develop and implement a continuum of research-based, effective positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) as part of a multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) framework.

  • Support staff in accessing and applying research-based materials and tools to target learning challenges, build compensatory strategies and fill in educational gaps.

  • Collaborate with school staff to help plan and deliver staff-wide professional development; provide on-going, job-embedded coaching and support to staff on effective implementation of tiered interventions and supports.

  • Help coordinate (MTSS) processes, including Child Find, and engage appropriate special education, clinical, and general education staff as partners to ensure the effective implementation of these processes.

  • Work with school staff to effectively implement and document research-based and innovative Tier II and Tier III academic and behavior interventions and supports.

  • Ensure high-quality progress monitoring for students receiving Tier II and Tier III interventions and supports.

  • Assist with the development of Section 504 Plans for students who need support.

  • Collaborate with staff to develop behavior support plans for students.

  • When appropriate, collaborate with clinical and special education staff members to develop academic and behavior intervention plans (BIPs) based on functional behavioral assessments (FBAs).

  • Work with school staff to regularly examine and monitor student data and make data- driven decisions to solve problems and improve student outcomes.

  • Provide leadership and direction to school staff to continuously teach and encourage pro- social skills and behaviors.

  • Support students’ social and emotional growth.

  • Conduct classroom observations and use observation data to inform recommendations for continual improvement in student outcomes.

  • Collaborate with the Family Engagement Coordinator to support student success and facilitate a school/home partnership.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
