Position Summary:
This position is responsible for all outside plant construction of the network that services residential customers for Summit Broadband.  This position partners closely with our sales, network engineering, mapping & records, and service delivery teams to deliver a high performing network that drives positive customer experiences. 

Job Description:
  • Ensure a leadership structure is in place to build trust, effectively communicate, and inspire team members
  • Motivate and lead a high-performance leadership team; providing mentoring as a cornerstone to leadership development
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the department
  • Defines strategy and manages the teams that performs all construction and field project management across Central and Southwest Florida. 
  • Accountability for strategic and tactical support of all design, Outside Plant (OSP) budgeting, construction, maintenance and project management activities supporting all video, voice and data services. 
  • Coordinate field survey of outside plant aerial and underground network facilities associated with new residential opportunities and our retail FTTH build. 
  • Lead the pricing and Return on Investment (ROI) assessment of OSP Engineering and Construction for new residential projects.  Communicate with Sales to ensure needs are understood and priced appropriately, in order to drive top line revenue, while meeting or exceeding ROI requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with FCC regulations and Summit Broadband minimum operating specifications
  • Responsible for end-to-end design, such that construction implementation can proceed, and be completed, on time and on budget
  • Responsible for assisting Vice President with OSP capital and expense budgets in order to meet the top line and Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA) needs.
  • Create consistent work flow processes between the Southwest Florida Region and the Central Region for as-builts and construction packages
  • Function as the key technical field resource for residential services to the SVP of Operations in technical planning and decision making by maintaining state-of-the-art knowledge of plant operations
  • Responsible for productivity tracking in the field, establishment and accountability of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and goals for the employees and ensuring all tasks are measured appropriately
  • Insure all as-builts are loaded into our mapping and records system within 72 hours of receipt
  • Establish a plan and implement a fiber management system such that all assignments are loaded into Bentley V8i and used for ongoing design for network additions, as well as for restoration
  • Manage and coordinate outside plant construction using both in-house and contract resources.  This requires strategic leadership for managing costs and maximizing quality construction
  • Manage installation of fiber architecture and Cable Television (CATV) plant in multi-tenant building; both residential and hospitality-based
  • Responsible for meeting Quality Control (QC) standards on all construction projects, either done via in-house or contractor resources
  • Responsible for the Phoenix recovery process for plant damages
  • Ensure system compliance to NCTA, FCC regulations and Summit Broadband minimum operating specifications
  • Manage system performance while responding to customer inquiries as necessary
  • Serve as out of hours expertise for all OSP items
  • Must be able to work after hours and weekends.  Remain in service during outages until resolved.
  • Must be able to work emergency schedules during natural disasters and network outages and respond to the needs of a 24/7/365 operation




Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or a related technical field, Master’s Degree preferred
  • 10+ years’ experience in a Fiber to the Home (FTTH)/CATV/telephony environment
  • 7+ years of effective people management experience with a strong record of building and leading teams
  • Exceptional leadership skills and a hands-on visible approach to staff management and interaction are required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • A strong strategic and business mindset
  • Excellent organization and project management skills
  • Superior knowledge optical networks and RF networks
  • Expertise on fiber design – specifically FTTH – with at least 5 years in a predominantly fiber-based construction arena
  • Strong team motivator and mentor
  • Working knowledge of network design software (Lode Data/OSP Insight/Bentley/AutoCAD;)
  • Working knowledge on Bentley for mapping and records
  • Knowledge of cable television products and services
  • Results oriented, strategic thinker and planner
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • Effective communicator and active listener
  • Must be able to pass criminal background check and have clean driving record
  • Must be able to pass drug test
  • This position is in the Florida Market.  Frequent travel (approximately 50%) within Florida will be required.
