ABOUT THE POSITION
As part of the Global CAD team, the CAD Helpdesk Technician helps ensure efficient and stable operation of Computer Aided Design (CAD) software and related systems for CAD data creators and CAD data consumers by providing support, troubleshooting, issue resolution, and training.

Key Activities & Responsibilities
  • Identify and resolve CAD user and system issues.
  • Educate Engineering design teams on software continuous improvements and solid modeling best practices.
  • Recommend software improvements and upgrades.
  • Ensure engineering users have adequate hardware and system requirements to meet their expected workload and deploy/upgrade hardware for the department.
  • Identify and resolve system issues.
  • Coordinate with software vendors to provide appropriate software training and fixes.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain procedures for outsourcing drafting.
  • Support the techniques, tools, and interfaces necessary for downstream consumption of CAD data.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.
  • Provide support for 3D Scanning technology and optimizing workflows for point cloud implementation in CAD software.
  • Function as a liaison between IT and Engineering.
  • Function as a liaison between Manufacturing and Engineering to solve problems and work on joint projects.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with manufacturing importing CAD data into nesting/CNC.
  • Assist with and ensure Engineering releases to manufacturing are smooth for all parties involved.
  • Be available for afterhours work related to critical outages or off-hours upgrades.
  • Other duties as assigned.

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
  • Two-year Mechanical Drafting/Design Technology Degree is required.  Experience using and teaching SolidWorks software, EPDM data management, and related technology; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Experience integrating solid modeling data with ERP and CAM systems.
  • Ability to effectively work as a member of a team required.
  • Problem solving ability and time management skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision is required.
  • Knowledge of database software, design software, development software, Internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software is necessary.
  • Ability to communicate in oral and written form is required.
  • Must be able to meet regular attendance requirements.
