ABOUT THE POSITION
The Vice President of Operations will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee operations activities in the Materials Solutions organization, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization globally.

Key Deliverables
  • Establishes, implements, and communicates the strategic direction of the organizations operations division.
  • Creating and implementing a strategic plan
  • Leveraging company output to improve ranking in the competitive field
  • Tackling unforeseen issues and troubleshooting
  • Leading departments and operations of the company

Key Activities & Responsibilities
  • Together with the General Managers and site safety leaders, support corporate safety programs and design pro-active safety programs applicable to each facility.
  • Support Group President to roll out and execute centrally led process initiated by Corporate Management.
  • Guide and lead General Managers to execute site specific OpEx plans in line with strategic plans for the Group 
  • Continuously improving quality through documented quality processes and procedures
  • Develop and continuously improve a consolidated Group S&OP process together with General Managers and Functional leaders.
  • Developing key performance indications to drive site specific productivity improvements in line with the Corporate OpEx scorecard and the Group’s strategic initiatives.
  • Together with Purchasing and site supply chain leaders, develop and implement world class supply chain process to continuously drive down cost and improve Working Capital Turns.
  • Together with General Managers and Group functional leaders develop the annual operating and capital budget for each facility/product line. 
  • Ensures that best practices are developed and shared among group manufacturing locations, monitors progress to goals and helps with tools, training and resources as required.
  • Drive the vision to ensure management empowers employees for ultimate ownership and engagement in the tactical actions.
  • Together with respective General Managers, balance manufacturing work load between sites as needed to minimize the need for manpower and capital investments.
  • Create an Employer of Choice work environment within each facility through effective HR strategies and proactive succession planning.
  • Supports new product development efforts by interfacing with engineering and manufacturing to ensure design manufacturability.
  • Prepares and makes presentations to individuals and groups.
  • Stays current with information and technology affecting the Quality, Lean and Continuous Improvement field.
  • Travels to Astec facilities throughout the world as needed.
  • Attend various meetings and participate in company initiatives to improve the profitability and efficiency of the company.
  • Actively follow, promote and enforce company policies, safety and work rules and core values.
  • Maintain a professional image and demeanor around customers, employees and the general public.
  • Work closely with and liaison with all Astec Industries, Inc. facilities and with appropriate business and trade organizations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
  • 10+ years leading Quality, Lean, Continuous Improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment
  • Global manufacturing experience preferred
  • Manufacturing optimization experience preferred
  • Strategic vision with ability for tactical implementation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence all levels throughout organization
  • Proven catalyst for change
  • Subject matter expert in all methodologies associated with Lean (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream mapping, etc.).
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business, plus a master’s degree or MBA is preferred
  • Must be able to work satisfactorily as a team member.
  • Must be energetic, highly motivated and have the ability to function in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities and responsibilities.
  • Must be able to solve problems effectively at both a strategic and functional level.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills are required.
  • Must be able to write reports, business correspondence and business plans.
  • Must have valid driver's license and passport.
  • Must be able to meet regular attendance requirements.
