ABOUT THE POSITION
Responsible for the design drafting of asphalt plant equipment and related components to ensure that equipment is properly manufactured.

Key Deliverables
  • Receives work assignments from Group Leader or Engineer and uses computer aided drafting programs to prepare detailed blueprints for the manufacturing process.
  • Ensures that drawings and bills of material are accurate and contain all information required by production.
  • Meets Astec, Inc. drafting standards.
  • Ensures that drawings and bills of material are complete according to schedule.
  • Contributes ideas for new designs or improving existing designs.

Key Activities & Responsibilities
  • Updates drawings and implements design changes as required.
  • Works with Manufacturing Department representatives and others to ensure drawings are understood.
  • Occasionally required to travel to a customer’s plant site to measure for the installation of new equipment or troubleshoot problems with existing equipment.
  • Follows company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Follows proper safety rules and procedures at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
  • Technical education and/or applicable experience in drafting required.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of drafting standards, dimensioning and tolerances, and projections and 3-dimensional layout.
  • Training and/or experience in using AutoCAD or similar CAD software required.
  • Knowledge of Windows-based programs is required.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail are required.
  • Must be able to work satisfactorily as a team member.
  • An Associate Degree in Engineering is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Office
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of injury in an office environment and occasionally a manufacturing shop plant environment.  Duties include a typical office setting including extensive computer work, sitting or standing.
