ABOUT THE POSITION
Responsible for the design drafting of asphalt plant equipment and related components to ensure that equipment is properly manufactured.
Key Deliverables- Receives work assignments from Group Leader or Engineer and uses computer aided drafting programs to prepare detailed blueprints for the manufacturing process.
- Ensures that drawings and bills of material are accurate and contain all information required by production.
- Meets Astec, Inc. drafting standards.
- Ensures that drawings and bills of material are complete according to schedule.
- Contributes ideas for new designs or improving existing designs.
Key Activities & Responsibilities- Updates drawings and implements design changes as required.
- Works with Manufacturing Department representatives and others to ensure drawings are understood.
- Occasionally required to travel to a customer’s plant site to measure for the installation of new equipment or troubleshoot problems with existing equipment.
- Follows company policies and procedures at all times.
- Follows proper safety rules and procedures at all times.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:- Technical education and/or applicable experience in drafting required.
- Must have a thorough understanding of drafting standards, dimensioning and tolerances, and projections and 3-dimensional layout.
- Training and/or experience in using AutoCAD or similar CAD software required.
- Knowledge of Windows-based programs is required.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail are required.
- Must be able to work satisfactorily as a team member.
- An Associate Degree in Engineering is preferred.
