LOCATION: Chattanooga, TN- Jerome

ABOUT THE POSITION
Provides technical information and troubleshooting assistance regarding industrial control systems for both new and used equipment; as well as R&D Projects within the Astec product line or other vendors.  Will lead a team of Astec Control engineering technicians, providing assistance to Astec Service support team, assistance via phone, remote access and/or job site visits and promotes Astec products by performing the following duties personally:

Deliverables & Responsibilities
  • Performs diagnostic evaluations and analyzes customer complaints.
  • Identify missing configurations to ensure the customers products are configured and working correctly.
  • Communicates with customers regarding equipment performance issues associated with new or used control systems.
  • Works with other departments to communicate related automation system issues and to provide feedback with other departments to resolve any issues.
  • Advises upper management on product issues identified through technical support calls with customers, Astec service staff or on-site visits.
  • Will troubleshoot electrical, electronic systems, and programming issues.
  • Aids with startup and commissioning of Industrial Control Systems, both remotely and onsite
  • Advises controls support manager and/or technical writer(s) on user documentation when necessary.
  • Manages customer problems that appear to arise from the use of the product when required.
  • Assists in final testing of new products when required.
  • Wears personal protective equipment as required by company, customer and/or state DOT’s
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in related field required and/or equivalent experience and knowledge with a minimum of 8 years of related experience.
  • Experience with controls systems, weights & measurements, strong background with industrial controls.
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and multiple coding platforms particularly, as it relates to controls systems.
  • Must be able to read and interpret coding.
  • Knowledge of products, applications, troubleshooting, repair and/or maintenance of Industrial Control Systems.
  • Ability to work satisfactorily as a team member and work with all levels of employees.
  • Strong people skills and communication skills (both verbal and written) required.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is required.
  • Ability to manage conflict and resolve issues in the most positive fashion for all parties concerned.
  • Knowledge of database software, design software, development software, internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software is required.
  • Recommend changes/upgrade to customer controls.
  • Direct Astec controls support to provide customer support or customer programming.
  • Create quotes for custom programming to be performed per customer request.
  • Project Management

Travel Requirements: 10% of travel, regional, international
