Job Title: Electrician

Position Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt, Hourly

Reports To: Assistant Director of Facility Operations

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Location: Jacksonville, FL

Pay Rate: Dependent on experience; determined during the interview

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Valid Duval County electrical journeyman’s certificate of competency or Master Electrician license (preferred).
  3. Proven experience as an electrician on institutional, commercial, or industrial projects.
  4. Successful completion of a vocational/technical program or apprenticeship training in the electrical trade (preferred).
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of three-phase electrical systems.
  6. Strong ability to work with diverse groups and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  7. Valid Florida driver’s license.
  8. 10+ years of experience in the electrical trade.
  9. Clean background, ability to pass a drug test, and successful completion of fingerprinting prior to starting.

Performance Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  1. Repair controllers, switchboards, panels, solid-state systems, lights, and electric motors. Operate various bending and pulling equipment.
  2. Locate and correct power failures and motor issues on electrically operated machinery and apparatus.
  3. Install new electric services.
  4. Maintain safety precautions regarding high voltage and occupational hazards.
  5. Perform preventive maintenance activities on all electrical systems.
  6. Perform initial installation of fire alarms, low voltage systems, intercom, and ITV systems.
  7. Install, terminate, and test fiber optic data cables.
  8. Install and maintain high-intensity lighting systems.
  9. Operate trenchers and other equipment.

Additional Job Functions:

  1. Follow adopted policies and procedures in accordance with school priorities.
  2. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of lifting/carrying up to 100 lbs.
  • Considerable physical activity required.
