MANAGER, RADIO ON-AIR FUNDRAISING

 

KERA, the public broadcasting organization for North Texas is hiring a creative, innovative

and Manager, Radio On-Air Fundraising to serve on the Development Team as we grow, diversify and engage members.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Development, this position focuses on blending strategy with creativity to grow membership and increase revenue through KERA’s radio fundraising campaigns. The ideal candidate has a successful track record and a passion for the mission and value of public media.

 

The position is based in Dallas and will lead radio fundraising campaigns for KERA News (NPR) and will manage staff responsible for leading campaigns for WRR (Classical) and KXT (AAA).

 

This is an FLSA classified Exempt position, which is not eligible for overtime. The position directly supervisors the Radio On-Air Fundraising team members.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

 

· Strategize, plan, implement and evaluate on-air campaigns to encourage new, renewed and upgraded contributions from listeners, streamers, subscribers and fans.

· Lead on‐air fundraising activities on one KERA radio station.

· Collaborate with Senior Staff and work closely with Radio Program Directors to design annual on-air fundraising calendar and strategies.

· Manage, develop, and support high‐performance team responsible for all radio on-air fundraising activities (KXT, WRR, KERA News).

· Create yearly plans to meet revenue and expense budget goals, including setting and sharing campaign and drive dates.

· Assure brand‐aligned message development, facilitate talent and producer recruitment and training, oversee production of live and pre-taped radio solicitations.

· Collaborate with Events staff to create in‐person and virtual events to incentive donors to give during on air campaigns.

· Work cross‐functionally with digital and marketing teams, and other station departments, to develop and execute new strategies and tactics to drive growth.

· Collaborate with staff who manage external vendors including call service center, web donation platform, and premium inventory fulfillment.

· Track and report on national benchmarks, KPIs, campaign performance and membership metrics to transform data into actionable data sets and analytics for optimized fundraising performance.

· Attend public media webinars, learn from colleagues at other public radio stations, utilize best practices, and test innovative techniques.

· Recruit, train and schedule on air hosts, pitch partners, producers, and production assistants, with emphasis on greater diversity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· At least four years of work experience in broadcasting, fundraising, or project management.

· Must be both a strong team leader and a self-starter.

· Innovative, creative and an accountable problem solver.

· Strong command of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office software.

 

BONUS IF YOU BRING:

· Television On Air Fundraising leadership experience.

· CRM/Donor database experience.

· Radio production experience.

· Working knowledge of Spanish and/or other languages common in Texas.

 

SALARY RANGE

The salary range for this position is $67,000-$73,000 annually, depending on experience.

 

LOCATION:

We expect this position to work out of our Dallas office at least 50% of the time. During on-air fundraising campaigns, on-site is required. Flexibility with on-site schedule will be offered after fundraising campaigns.

Pay Range
$67,000.00   Annually to $73,000.00   Annually
