    Howard University Hospital seeks to hire a GME Director who will be responsible for the operations and administrative management of the Graduate Medical Education (GME) Program, to include program design, development, implementation and compliance.

    The GME Director:

    • Provides direction and oversight for the development, implementation and evaluation of GME programs to ensure appropriate documentation of all necessary data required by the institution and oversight agencies.
    • Ensures compliance with ACGME accreditation standards, institutional policies and procedures and licensing board requirements and protocols.
    • Provides strategic leadership for the continued development and expansion of the GME program.
    • Provides leadership for GME staff including selection, counseling, termination and development.
    • Provides accurate information on resident schedules and rotations in support of GME reimbursement from Medicare, the Veterans Administration, and others. Ensures faculty document their supervision of residents/fellows, in accordance with regulatory bodies, in the medical record; create resident schedules in accordance with ACGME guidelines. Ensures residents obtain identification numbers required for ordering tests, labs, and medication.
    • Reviews credentialing requirements and maintains personnel for assigned trainees in the institutional database. Ensures that learning objectives of the program are accomplished through an appropriate blend of supervised patient care responsibilities, clinical teaching, and didactic educational events.
    • Develops and supports Residency Program personnel. Advocates for program resources and financial support for the GME program. Manages GME budget and reviews annually to ensure funding of all required elements to meet ACGME standards.
    • Facilitates communication between to academic departments and affiliate partners regarding program initiatives and educational activities.​​​​​​

    • Prepares reports related to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) billing and DGME/IGME protocols.
    • Directs activities of hospital affiliate staff as related to GME program.

    Qualified Candidates will possess:

    Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited college or university required.
    • Master’s Degree in related field of study from an accredited college/university; In lieu of degree, will consider 12 years of relevant experience in GME accreditation and operations
    • Seven (7) years of relevant experience in GME operations.
    • Five (5) years of relevant experience as program director.
    • Successful track record in accreditation desired.
