ABOUT THE POSITION
A Senior Accountant will have direct responsibility for the ongoing accounting activities, monthly close, reconciliations and reporting/analysis for business transactions in the corporate division.  Areas of corporate accounting include debt, deferred compensation, pension, corporate allocations, etc.). In addition, this position will play a key role in working with the Corporate Leadership Team to deliver the corporate budget and forecast. This position requires technical accounting knowledge and will provide critical analysis and information. Works closely with various corporate departments including accounting, treasury, tax, human resources, IT, and risk management

Key Deliverables
  • Provide financial analyses and reports
  • Provide support with annual audit preparations.
  • Provide support with improving the new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate balance sheets and general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare federal, state, local, and special tax returns.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare various journal entries.
  • Assists in monthly close process and preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements and reports.
  • Coordinates with intercompany subsidiaries to reconcile accounts monthly.
  • Assists with financial, Sarbanes-Oxley, sales tax and/or other audits by copying any requested information, preparing related spreadsheets, answering questions related to the audit, etc.
  • Reconciles various general ledger accounts in a timely manner each month. 
  • Prepares sales and use tax returns and refund requests as needed.
  • Prepares machine sales documentation for billing and reviews to verify all required information is included and meets revenue recognition requirements.
  • Backs up cost accounting as needed.
  • Assists in the preparation of yearly budgets.
  • Assists in monthly/annual physical inventory
  • Prepares various reports for corporate office weekly and monthly.
  • Projects positive company image by interacting with fellow employees, customers, and management in a cooperative, supportive, and courteous manner; displays professional attitude; complies with company dress code.
  • Communicates with individuals at all levels within the organization.
  • Documents assigned tasks as required.
  • Performs work according to supervisor's directives.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
  • B.A. or B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance and
  • 5+ years of accounting experience required; manufacturing accounting experience preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification a plus.
  • Cost accounting experience a plus.
  • Experience in reconciling, analyzing, and maintaining general ledger accounts is mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applications of accounting principles.
  • Good communication skills (both verbal and written). 
  • Ability to proficiently operate a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite software applications.
  • Ability to handle sudden changes in project/priority and multiple tasks simultaneously in a positive fashion.
  • Ability to set, adjust and change daily priorities.
  • Good organization and time-management skills.
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and take on new challenges.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment on a customary and regular basis.              
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics to include the calculation of figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages to practical situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required, Microsoft Dynamics AX experience a plus.
