The Human Resources Director (HR Director) position with Wax Center Partners is a high impact role, with the responsibility to provide the full range of day-to-day HR support across the organization. As a Director of Human Resources, you will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization's mission and talent strategy.


As the Director of Human Resources (HR Director), you will have responsibility for the following: 
  • Strategy: Partner with the leadership team to establish and implement comprehensive workforce strategies in support business objectives, including workforce planning, employee engagement, employee retention, compensation and benefits, employee development, and performance management.
  • Engagement & Retention: Coach and support center managers in building a positive, continuous improvement focused culture and hiring, retaining, and engaging a strong team.   Lead company engagement efforts, establishing a disciplined process for continuously measuring and improving employee engagement.  Collaborate with peers to instill a culture that supports Wax Center Partners' Core Values.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as the subject matter expert for managers and employees, handling questions, interpreting policies, and helping resolve work-related problems and conflicts by developing managers’ employee relations capabilities.
  • Recruiting & New Hire Activities: Lead recruiting efforts from sourcing through new hire onboarding through retention.  Develop and maintain a robust recruiting network to ensure a quality pipeline of appropriate candidates.  Collaborate with production leadership to develop and deploy new hire onboarding programs that speed the transition of new employees to productivity.  
  • Payroll: Collaborate with the payroll administrator to ensure the effective administration of timely and accurate payrolls.  
  • HRIS: Lead the efforts to expand Wax Center Partners' HRIS platform capabilities and improve workforce productivity by optimizing its use.
  • Talent Management: Drive talent management by facilitating performance improvement plans, coaching center managers to effectively manage good and poor performance and leading the organization in the development of effective succession plans. 
  • Training: Develop and conduct continuous and effective training programs, including Lean / continuous improvement and leadership development programs, to improve employee skills, knowledge of job specific functions, understanding of company policies, and other issues as they arise. 
  • Compliance: Develop and administer HR policies, practices, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with applicable US laws and regulations.  Prepare, file, and maintain required state and federal reports.
  • Leadership: Provide leadership, direction, mentoring and guidance to HR department staff. Serve as an example of Wax Center partners' core values for other leaders and staff within the organization. 
  • Light travel as needed to Wax Centers in TX, AZ and Las Vegas
To be successful in the role, you must possess: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of HR Director level experience with exposure in all areas including recruitment, payroll administration, and employee relations.
  • Experience with Paylocity is required. 
  • Experience with California labor laws highly preferred.
  • Experience with training and development highly preferred.
  • PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP or -SCP certification preferred.
  • High energy, analytical, & results driven, striving to improve processes every day.  
  • Outstanding organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and high-volume workload.  Strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  • Exceptional communication skills, strong relationship building skills, and a positive professional attitude.
  • Discreet, able to handle confidential and proprietary information appropriately. High level of integrity.
