ABOUT THE POSITION
The Industrial Painter is responsible for all aspects of painting Industrial Equipment. This includes preparing surfaces, mixing paint, utilizing spraying equipment, operating paint booths, rolling and touching up, applying decals, etc.
Key Deliverables
• Operate paint sprayer or other industrial paint equipment on metals or products.
• Use paint spray equipment in various positions, as well as manual painting products.
• A substantial portion of work time includes spray painting.
• Monitor work to ensure desired results.
• Ensure that all materials are labeled accurately.
• Inspect all products to ensure that the end results follow Astec’s guidelines.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
• Accomplish all daily painting production requirements in an efficient manner.
• Ensure that painting assignments properly adhere to quality assurance standards (proper material and equipment usage).
• Check production schedule or shop request list, and plan work tasks accordingly.
• Clean, sand/grind, and prepare equipment surfaces for painting.
• Apply primer and finish coats with attention to safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Mix and match paint and clean and maintain spray guns and other painting equipment.
• Properly wear protective and safety equipment (mask, fresh air breathing apparatus, etc.) due to working with unpleasant or toxic/hazardous fumes and materials.
• Follow company policies, procedures, and safety rules at all times.
• Attend weekly department safety meeting.
• May occasionally be assigned to other duties for training purposes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Manufacturing Environment
The shop manufacturing environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions, and exposure to the risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, and very warm and chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times, consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
