​​​The CNC Lathe Machinist operates computer numerical control machines to fabricate finished parts to specifications while holding tolerances +/- .0001. The CNC Lathe Machinist loads parts in the machine, cycle’s machine, and detects malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized, and clean work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs all assigned machine shop operations.  

  • Assist with the replacement of worn tools  

  • Assist with the start-up of lathe or turning machines.  

  • Assist with the positioning and alignment of cutting tools in toolholders on machines.  

  • Understand blueprints, layouts or charts, and job orders and how it relates to the specifications and tooling instructions.  

  • Assist with the selection of cutting tools and tooling instructions.  

  • Assist with the controls to set cutting speeds and depths and feed rates, and to position tools in relation to workpieces.  

  • Refill, change, and monitor the level of fluids, such as oil and coolant, in machines.  

  • Assist with the installation of holding fixtures, cams, gears, and stops to control stock and tool movement, using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.  

  • Assist with hoists, fasteners, and hand tools.  

  • Assist moving toolholders manually or by turning handwheels. 

  • Assist with in process inspection of machined parts using a variety of precision measuring tools such as micrometers, microscopes, fixtures, indicators, and special tools. 

  • Other duties assigned  


Education: 

  • Associates or Certification in Machining Technologies preferred (not required).  

  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing facility.  

           
Skills Required: 

  • Comprehension of complex engineering drawings.  

  • Ability to hold tolerances up to =/- .0001.  

  • Blueprint, GD&T, measuring equipment  

  • Basic Communication  

  • Basic shop math  

 

Work Environment: 

  • Manufacturing floor environments 
  • Controlled temperature environments 

 

Expected Hours of Work 
This is a Full-Time hourly position required to work Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends.

$18.00   Hourly to $25.00   Hourly
