Longenecker & Associates (L&A) seeks a motivated Principal Mechanical Process Design Engineer to contribute to our mission supporting our work at
SRNS in Aiken, SC.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS. Primary responsibilities include engineering analysis, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specifications; Failure Analysis; Accident Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews.
 
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or current registration as a Professional
Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering


​​​​MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 10 years design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry.
  • Candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience working at one or more DOE facilities.
  • Candidate must demonstrate experience creating and revising documentation in one or more of the following areas: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specifications; Failure Analysis; Accident Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews.
  • Ability to walkdown and interface with personnel and systems in the field.
  • Ability to fulfill and promote L&A Core Values. 
  • Must be a US Citizen. 
​​​​​​Desired Qualifications
  • Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance within the past two years.  
  • Previous SRS experience is preferred.

LOCATION
Position will be on-site in Aiken, SC.

Duration of the Contract:  ONE ( 1 ) YEAR WITH THE OPTION TO EXTEND FOR TWO ( 2 ) ADDITIONAL ONE ( 1 ) YEAR OPTION YEARS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ATTACHED JOB DESCRIPTION.
-Option Periods are not guaranteed and are executed at the discretion of the hiring manager. 
-Yearly options will automatically include a 3.5% escalation.  

Estimates Hours Per Year: 2,000 ST / 800 OT

Anticipated Work Schedule:  M-Thurs 10 hr shift with 30-minute lunch (unpaid)

Onsite or Remote? Local candidates or willing to relocate at the candidate's expense. 100% onsite.
