Longenecker & Associates (L&A) seeks a motivated Sustainability Project Manager to contribute to our mission supporting our work at a premier national laboratory in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The main duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop and enforce work standards,
  • Provide quality assurance and configuration management,
  • Review work quality,
  • Assign schedules,
  • Communicate goals, objectives, and policies of the organization to others,
  • Responsible for project development life cycle phases from inception to deployment, with an ability to provide guidance and direction in these task areas:
1. Provide inputs on the development and implementation of project / program management.
The Subcontractor shall align activities performed with project objectives.
2. Incorporate changes into scope, schedule, cost, earned value management, plans, and the
project environment.
3. Participate in and coordinate project initiation.
4. Participate in and coordinate project rescue efforts designed to extract maximum potential value from a project in its current state.
5. Articulate and make the case for whether a troubled project should be rescued or closed.
6. Coordinate the review of project risk with management and provide status reporting.
7. Coordinate team activities on projects.
8. Be responsible for providing consistent technical and administrative direction to the Project
Controls team members in performing activities with respect to project execution and planning.
9. Provide guidance, direction, coordination, initiation of work, organization, and evaluation
consistently in project execution and systems.
10. Support operations from acquisition of new work through project execution and closeout.
11. Develop and implement baseline changes in accordance with NTESS approved change
control processes.
12. Responsible to ensure that approved changes are incorporated and implemented.
13. Provide to the Sandia Delegated Representative a detailed activity report describing the
month's efforts and outcomes with each invoice. This shall include Completed Tasks and Ongoing Tasks status.
 
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and 10+ years of related experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Project Management/Program Management experience,
  • Skilled at developing business strategies for sustaining facility operations supported by engineers, technicians and highly skilled personnel,
  • Able to manage multiple complex, technical projects and oversee the coordination,
  • Ability to give presentations explaining accomplishments and business strategies,
  • Skilled at organizing and structuring the work,
  • Able to work with highly technical people focused on executing the technical details,
  • Understands project logistics,
  • Ability to obtain a Q clearance,
  • Able to work on-site,
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment,
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening,
  • Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience on DOE sites and programs,
  • PMP certification preferred,
  • Experience in sustaining the facilities in a high technology area.

ABOUT THE TEAM
Center 1600's research is focused on creating, diagnosing, and modeling intense, submicrosecond, repetitive pulses of x rays and energetic beams for a wide variety of applications. Our center is most famous as the home of the Z machine, the world’s largest pulsed power machine. Z is part of a science-based stockpile stewardship program intended to ensure our nation’s nuclear deterrent in the absence of underground testing, including the technical expertise and judgment of its workforce. We partner with universities on fundamental science relevant to planetary formation, neutron stars, the physics of our sun, and much more. We are one of the NNSA’s primary stewards of fast pulsed power expertise and we apply that expertise to improve our existing pulsed power machines and to build new capabilities for the nation.
