About the Role
The Field Engineer will be based out of Longmont, CO and support Clean Chemistry’s product field trials, system installations and operations in pulp & paper mills, food & beverage facilities, and other industrial plants in the USA and internationally. This is a dynamic, hands-on position requiring a well-rounded skill set for recent engineering graduates or the more experienced engineer.  The position will require traveling regularly to work at customer facilities, which is expected to be 25 to 60% of the time.  The balance of time will be used for remotely supporting trial operations, data analysis, managing field supplies and inventory, testing, preparing and testing equipment for deployment, and building a detailed understanding of specific applications/processes. The position will often be customer-facing, requiring effective, professional communication skills.  The Field Engineer will work as part of Clean Chemistry’s growing P&P and F&B teams and will closely interface with the company’s operations and engineering teams.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to Clean Chemistry safety policies and procedures and any safety protocols required at customer facilities
  • Install and provide operations support for Clean Chemistry’s chemical production systems at customer facilities including pulp mills, water treatment facilities, agricultural locations, and food processing facilities for product trials and permanent installations
  • Travel to and work at customer facilities to run product trials with Clean Chemistry’s teams. Communicate and work with the customer’s management and staff
  • Develop a detailed understanding and proficiency for Clean Chemistry’s chemical production systems to maintain, troubleshoot and repair chemical production equipment
  • Test, evaluate and troubleshoot chemical production systems before and after deployment
  • Conduct chemical analyses of Clean Chemistry’s product and of process streams treated by the chemistry
  • Manage and coordinate systems and equipment for deployment to trials and permanent installations
  • Develop an understanding of specific customer facilities and processes
  • Analyze customer data and key performance indicators to understand the impact of Clean Chemistry’s technology in a variety of applications
  • Evaluate processes in field operations settings and communicate with Operations, Engineering and HSEQ (health, safety, environment & quality) teams to develop improvements to safety, quality, and efficiency

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or master’s engineering degree (e.g., mechanical, chemical, environmental) or comparable work experience
  • Excellent problem-solving skills applicable to operation, use and maintenance of process equipment and automation platforms for chemical manufacturing, food processing, sanitization processes or industrial/municipal water treatment processes
  • Able to travel independently, drive, and work in industrial facilities with moderate walking distances, flights of stairs, and seasonal outdoor temperature variations (hot and below freezing)
  • Willing to travel (25-60%, varies by month), work flexible and extended hours at customer sites; ability to travel in the US and internationally
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers; strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with the use of spreadsheet and database software to compile, analyze, and present data.  Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiatives to drive projects forward

Preferred Experience
  • Preferred experience working in industrial facilities which may include pulp & paper, water treatment, chemical, pharmaceutical, food & beverage manufacturing
  • Familiarity with chemical reactions, chemical notation, chemical application rate calculations and converting units of measure
  • Applied knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques
  • Experience with chemical hygiene and safety programs
  • Hands-on experience working with PLC’s, process sensors, control signals, power supplies, motors, and pumps
  • Exposure to distributed control systems (DCS) and data historian software
  • Experience with engineering design software and Google Suite tools
  • Equipment assembly or fabrication experience
  • Project management experience
