Senior Environmental Engineer

Western Technologies Inc., an RMA company, has immediate opportunities for a Senior Environmental Engineer with Regionwide project and business development responsibilities. You will manage projects, mentor staff, and expand business activity. We are looking for candidates with a broad range of experience spanning site characterization, NEPA environmental reviews, building science evaluations, remedial investigations and corrective actions, underground storage tank management, environmental permitting and compliance monitoring. Experience in the construction industry is a plus.

Your project management responsibilities will consist of supervising personnel and projects, directing and leading field activities, reviewing and interpreting data, and developing recommendations consistent with industry standards and regulatory guidelines. You will review technical reports for accuracy, completeness and conformity to scopes and specifications.

As a mentor, you will coach junior staff on project-related tasks and provide encouragement, advice, and direction on overall task performance. The Senior Environmental Engineer will offer guidance for the advancement of professional, academic, workplace and technical competencies. Through daily interactions, you will assist junior staff with identifying career path interests and encouraging training and development to achieve their objectives.

Your business development activities will manage existing client relationships, influence business development, promote financial and geographic growth, and foster new business activities from a technical and geographic perspective. The Senior Environmental Engineer designs scopes of services to meet client’s needs, develops pricing and budgets that are competitive in the marketplace, and achieves the firm’s profitability goals. You will collaborate with peers, other technical experts and marketing personnel to prepare and submit winning proposals for long-term, competitively-bid government contracts.

Key Responsibilities

Interpret data from third party vendors and review technical reports to ensure quality and accuracy of reported findings.

Provide consultation and guidance regarding local, state, and federal regulations as they impact work practices, strategies, and project outcomes.

You will coach and mentor junior staff on job performance, data quality objectives, and reporting.

Participate in collaborative efforts on cross-discipline projects both within your assigned office, and regionally across the company’s business footprint.

Manage budgets, schedules, deliverables, and consultation to meet established project and business metrics for overall project performance.

In conjunction with Department Directors and Principals, promote and expand service-sector capabilities in one or more disciplines including asbestos, lead-based paint, indoor air quality, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, environmental exposures, construction/infrastructure management, and building sciences.
 
Requirements

Bachelor of Science in chemistry, geology, or an engineering discipline from an accredited university.

Professional registration as an engineer or geologist.

OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPPER Training with current updates.

Minimum 10 years’ experience with professional environmental consulting or engineering work. A

Valid driver’s license, and insurable driving record.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to establish effective working relationships with clients and team.

Preferred Additional Credentials

AHERA or State accreditations for asbestos inspector, management planner, contractor supervisor, site monitor, and abatement designer.

EPA or State certifications for lead-based paint risk assessor.

Certified Industrial Hygienist or Certified Safety Professional.

Certified Hazardous Materials Manager.
