Facilities & Delivery Associate (FULL-TIME)

The Facilities & Delivery Associate is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods, food, and supplies, as well as assisting in the logistics, maintenance, and upkeep of the CARE Center of New Jersey facility and Food for HOPE program.  This role ensures that both the transportation of goods and the facilities are maintained to the highest standards, delivering quality service that supports the CARE Center of New Jersey’s mission of providing essential resources to those in need.

Essential Job Responsibilities 

Delivery & Transportation: 

  • Successfully plan and coordinate the timely delivery and receipt of goods, including managing schedules, routes, and logistics. 

  • Ensures the safe and secure transportation of items, maintaining their quality and integrity.

  • Safely and efficiently load and unload food and supplies, ensuring proper handling and storage to maintain quality. 

  • Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing deliveries, including tracking shipments and managing delivery documentation. ​​​​​

  • Ensure that all deliveries are processed in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. 

Vehicle Maintenance: 

  • Conducts regular and timely vehicle inspections and performs basic maintenance tasks. 

  • Reports any vehicle issues promptly to ensure minimal disruption to delivery schedules. 

Record Keeping: 

  • Keeps detailed and accurate records of all deliveries and any associated paperwork. 

  • Maintains logs of vehicle usage and mileage, as required. 

Safety and Compliance: 

  • Adheres to all traffic laws and safety regulations, maintaining a clean driving record. 

  • Follows all organizational policies related to vehicle operation and food transportation. 

Stocking and Inventory Management: 

  • Organizes and stocks shelves in the food pantry, warehouse, and any other storage areas, ensuring all items are stored correctly and efficiently. 

  • Monitors inventory levels, rotating stock to prevent food spoilage and ensure freshness. 

  • Assists with receiving and processing incoming food donations and supplies. 

  • Maintains a clean and organized storage area, making it easy to locate and access items. 

  • Records and updates inventory logs to track supplies and identify replenishment needs. 

Facilities Maintenance: 

  • Conducts maintenance tasks to maintain facility functionality, including, but not limited to: spackling, painting, and replacing light bulbs. 

  • Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, common areas, and other facility spaces to ensure a safe and hygienic environment. 

  • Performs seasonal upkeep, such as landscaping, snow removal, and other exterior maintenance tasks. 

  • Provide logistical support for events and special projects, including setting up and breaking down spaces for special events, ensuring the facility meets the needs of each occasion. 

  • Coordinates with maintenance personnel for more complex repairs and facility improvements, including mechanical and operational systems, machinery, and other equipment. 

  • Partner with external contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance and repairs. 

  • Manage inventory of building supplies, equipment, and tools, ensuring that all necessary items are stocked and in good working condition. 

  • Comply with safety protocols to ensure a secure and compliant working environment. 

Administrative Support: 

  • Assist with administrative tasks related to facilities and delivery operations, such as preparing reports, updating records, and managing correspondence. 

  • Support the scheduling of maintenance and repair work, coordinating with internal staff and external vendors as needed. 

Customer Service: 

  • Address and resolve any concerns or requests from staff and/or clients regarding facilities or delivery services.  

  • Provide exceptional customer service by responding promptly to inquiries and ensuring that needs are met efficiently and effectively. 

Education, Skills, and/or Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 

  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. 

  • Knowledge of safety regulations, safe driving practices and traffic laws, and best practices in facilities management and delivery logistics. 

  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety procedures. 

  • Ability to perform physical tasks related to facility maintenance and delivery operations, including lifting and moving items up to 50-75 pounds. 

  • Proven experience in facilities management, logistics, or a similar role. 

  • Familiarity with general maintenance tools, materials, and safety precautions. 

Skills Required:

  • Proficient in the proper and safe loading and unloading of items. 

  • Expertise in handling and transporting food items with meticulous care and attention to detail. 

  • Consistently dependable and timely, demonstrating a strong commitment to excellence in all tasks. 

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. 

  • Proficient in using office software and systems for record-keeping and reporting. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) 

  • Completed a Specialized Delivery Truck Training 

  • Holds a Forklift Certification
