SUMMARY
Product Manager (Aftermarket) will be responsible for the leadership of the Aftermarket Products within the Product Family of the Product Portfolio. This position will own the execution of the Product Strategy and collaborate with Parts, Sales & Marketing, Engineering and other PMT (Product Management Team) members to understand the aftermarket needs in the Regions, monitor & report on market information, trends, and activities – including product performance, market share, competitor information, and customer feedback.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Product Manager is responsible for gathering and organizing market data, including competitor information and internal metrics such as market share.
  • Gathers and organizes potential feature additions, product improvements, and new product development actions and projects from market, competitor, and customer research and analysis.
  • Maintains a Product Development Roadmap by model family, detailing new product development projects and timelines, and prepares presentations to the VP of Product Management and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to obtain approval and funding for new product development projects.
  • Works closely with PMT members, including the appropriate NPD Engineering and Parts Personnel, to ensure development projects progress through the NPD process to meet assigned deadlines for development and product launch criteria.
  • Communicates and coordinates with Sales & Marketing and Parts personnel for effective product positioning and effective product launches.
  • Maintains and organizes an accurate product specification library for products to be accessed by internal customers for positioning and promotion.
  • Acts as the primary gateway for sales requests for product customization, filtering requests with Internal Sales & Applications, Engineering, and OpEx resources. Reviews requests against the product strategy and with Engineering as appropriate and responds to Sales with direction.
  • Assures compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and corporate governance policies, regulations, and laws.
  • Uses advanced forecasting techniques to predict the lifecycle of parts and plan for obsolescence.
  • Regularly monitors inventory turnover rates to identify slow-moving parts early.
  • Helps negotiate end-of-life agreements with suppliers to manage the phase-out process smoothly.
  • Sets prices based on the value provided to customers, considering convenience and reduced downtime.
  • Defines parts that will require aftermarket support and service, focusing on high-wear and frequently replaced items.
  • Supports Astec’s core values, mission statement and vision statement.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENT
Product Managers are expected to Lead by Influence across the Functional areas of the Group to execute the Product Strategy.

  • Must be able to work effectively as a member of a cross functional team.
  • Strong product application understanding and experience with Astec & Competitive products.
  • Ability to effectively speak publicly and make presentations is required.
  • Ability to travel overnight and work long hours is required, although 40-48 hours per week is typical. Overnight travel is approximately 3-5 days 3 to 6 times per year with overseas travel of 1-3 times per year. Ability to obtain and maintain a Passport is required.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of career experience in Engineering Design or Product management.
  • A degree in engineering or a related field, and/or business is preferred.
