LOCATION: Onsite at any US Astec site location – TN, SD, KS, WI, OR

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Engineering Governance Technical Writer will work under the Global CAD manager, collaborating with cross-functional teams to create and maintain internal engineering content for the Astec Global Engineering team. Responsibilities include developing policies, standards, procedures, work instructions, best practices, and training materials. The writer will review and edit team content, organize complex technical information, and ensure effective communication.
Key duties also involve creating processes for reusing written data across various platforms and languages, coordinating with third parties for accurate translation of documents, and managing technical documentation and training materials. Additionally, the writer will provide recommendations for process improvement and support the promotion of the OneASTEC culture.

Deliverables & Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and maintain policies, standards, procedures, work instructions, and best practices for the Astec Global Engineering team.
  • Review and/or copy edit content developed by other team members.
  • Assist in the creation of training materials.
  • Organize complex technical information for effective consumption.
  • Develop internal processes that support the reuse of written data across multiple languages and means of consumption such as PDFs, help files, SharePoint pages, and training materials.
  • Work with third parties to translate technical documentation and training materials accurately and efficiently into multiple languages such as English, French, Portuguese, and Hindi.
  • Manage the storage, organization and revision control of technical documentation and training information.
  • Provide recommendations for process and system improvement.
  • Aggressively support and promote the culture of OneASTEC.

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Technical Writing, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in policy, standards, procedure, and work instruction creation for engineering teams.
  • Effective communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Experience preparing illustrations, photographs, diagrams, and charts for use in technical documentation.
  • Solid written communication skills; technical writing, editing and documentation experience.
  • Proficient with MS Office, InDesign, FrameMaker, DITA XML authoring software such as OxygenXML.
  • Familiarity with 2D and 3D CAD tools
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities.
