Job Summary:
Provide technical assurance and support to turnaround, maintenance, and operations to improve the overall reliability of critical rotating equipment for the PEMEX Deer Park Refinery.
  • Develop long-term maintenance care strategies and detailed scope of work for critical rotating equipment in assigned areas.
  • Perform proactive technical monitoring for early detection of defects or failures.
  • Provide quality assurance for repairs to ensure the machines will meet their required life cycle
  • Identification of projects and improvements to safe operation, long term maintenance costs, and machine efficiency
Dimensions:
  • The Staff Rotating Equipment Engineer provides technical support to operations, maintenance, and turnarounds regarding critical machinery.
  • The role is assigned specific areas of responsibility within the refinery but may be asked to support other areas based on workload and availability.

Responsibilities
Below are the key areas which the Rotating Equipment Engineer is responsible for.   
  • Operations Support
      1. Critical Work Processes
        • Ensure operating procedures are in place for critical rotating equipment.
        • Ensure operational rounds are clearly defined for rotating equipment integrity
        • Rotating Equipment lead for critical machinery during operational upsets or planned/unplanned outages
        • Identify and risk assess threats to safe, stable operation of rotating equipment
        • Provide Tech Authority for Management of Change for rotating equipment
        • Develop and continuously improve Equipment Care Strategies for rotating equipment as part of the RCM process.
        • Enter project initiation forms for machinery upgrade or replacement
        • Provide input into the Business Plan for planned work on critical machinery                           ​​​                                             ​​
        • Troubleshoot issues and perform causal investigations for rotating equipment failures​​​
        • Champion the Learner Mindset when approaching technical issues.  Seek to understand the cause to prevent recurrence.                                                      
        • Develop work scope for critical rotating equipment.
        • Develop the QA/QC plan. Provide Quality Assurance on critical repairs.
        • Support the planning process for maintenance execution.
        • Support operations in developing decontamination plans to preserve equipment.
        • Responsible for auxiliary system plan and functional testing
        • Provide assurance that learnings, changes, and repairs are properly documented in the Equipment Care Historian.​​​​​​               ​​​​​​​           
        • Engineering support for the Vibration Analysis program, providing technical assurance for program and management overview of alarm settings.
        • Provides engineering support to condition monitoring specialist on EVO (Benty Nevada)
        • Develop equipment monitoring requirements
        • Develop monitoring templates and apply to critical equipment                                                                                      ​​​​​
        • Identify and eliminate performance and integrity issues​​​​​​
        • Identify improvement opportunities and enter project initiation forms.
        • Maintain a technology implementation plan to improve reliability, process safety and efficiency of equipment.
        • Review and summarize the history of critical machines.  Credit schedules and adjust based on as-found condition. Ensure all information is documented for future reference.
        • Responsible for performance monitoring and testing.  Develop, review, and verify performance programs and Models
        • Ensures equipment files are up to date and complete in the equipment care historian.
        • Act as a technical consultant for causal investigations
        • Participate in Process Hazards Analysis.
        • Perform technical proactive monitoring on critical equipment
        • Support the Mechanical Specialist on updating Bill of Materials
        • Understand and follow industry standards related to rotating equipment​​​​​​. repairs
Job Skills and Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum Bachelors Engineering Degree or equivalent in technical/engineering discipline.
  • Academic qualifications or equivalent minimum 7 years in the industry, preferably including work in Refinery and Chemical Manufacturing facilities
  • Strong design and troubleshooting skills on turbo machinery maintenance/overhauls using best practices and industry standards
  • Strong Design and troubleshooting skills on lube and seal oil systems
  • Working knowledge of reciprocating compressor performance analysis and field troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of machinery safeguarding methodologies and safety critical systems/shutdowns
  • Performance monitoring using first principles to trend, identify and troubleshoot
  • Vibration Diagnostics, ability to analyze and diagnose machinery vibrations on turbo machinery and high energy charge pumps.
  • Experience with Rotating Equipment Support for Operation and Maintenance
  • Surge Testing skill and experience
  • Experience in Plant Turnarounds, Maintenance, Start up and Shutdown
  • Experience with relationship and contract management of OEM’s and contractors
  • Experience in HSSE and quality management
