Job Purpose:
The purpose of the Major Maintenance Rotating Equipment Supervisor is to oversee all site Major Critical Rotating Equipment planning and execution including Turnaround and Major Maintenance related work.  Works with engineering to build out Critical Machinery business plans (1-5 year plan).  Ensures technical standards are adhered to during planning and execution phases of projects.  Will liaison with Engineering to resolve complex issues and deviations from quality plans.

  • Direct Staff:  ~4 FTEs  
  • Annual Spend: $8M - $12M 
  • Part of the Extended Leadership Team within MTAC (Maintenance, Turnarounds and Construction)
  • Support planning and execution of MTAC events ranging from small ASM’s up to major turnarounds. 
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Assurance 
Key player in assurance of site rotating equipment delivery and work processes. Coordinates QA/QC process for rotating equipment. Focus on efficient planning and execution delivery by managing cost, eliminating waste, and minimize opportunities for defects.
    • Conduct field audits as necessary to determine if the QC process is being implemented correctly in the field. Conduct random verification checks in the field.
    • Initiating internal corrective action reports when necessary 
  • Analyze data and make suggestions for continuous improvement 
  • Work with Production Teams to deliver optimal scope and performance for critical equipment repairs and upgrades. ​​​​​​​
  • Ensuring mechanical standards & best practices are incorporated into all job plans
  • Holding engineering & operations accountable for deliverables regarding scope, QA plans & discovery work
  • Support planning and execution of MTAC events ranging from small ASM’s up to major turnarounds. 
  • Accountable for developing budgets and adhering to cost and schedule control measures to ensure predictable outcomes
  • Responsible for developing resource plans and contracting strategies for critical machinery field work
  • Ensuring mechanical standards & best practices are incorporated into all job plans
  • Responsible for incident investigation related to managed work.
Key Challenges:
  • Manage a wide range of stakeholders, including production leaders, discipline representatives, execution resources, and contractors. Ensure alignment across the organization to meet planning and execution milestones.
  • High-paced environment during TA execution necessitates the ability to make timely, effective decisions to support event delivery.  
  • Possess a creative approach to drive efficiencies and improved ways of working in the controls and execution space.
  • Ability to balance day-to-day/ASM activities with long term and systemic issues.
  • Holding engineering & operations accountable for deliverables regarding scope, QA plans & discovery work

Key Qualifications:
  • Engineering or related Technical Degree is preferred.
  • Experience in the specific discipline will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Previous production or maintenance support is preferred.
  • Knowledge of key technical software (e.g., SAP, Power BI, Primavera) is preferred.
  • Ability to influence without formal authority.
  • Knowledge of project and construction controls/execution is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, adaptability, and communication skills are required.
Experience Requirements:
  • 15+ years varied experience in projects, maintenance, and/or turnarounds in an oil refining / petrochemical manufacturing environment.
  • Previous field execution experience through maintenance support of 24-hour operation or projects construction required.
  • Deep understanding of site critical machinery standards (turbine, reciprocating compressors and centrifugal compressors) 
  • Working knowledge of other disciplines technical standards (electrical, instrumentation, PEI)
