ABOUT THE POSITION
Under the direction of the Department Production Supervisor and in cooperation with the Team Leader, handle materials and expedite parts to proper production locations. Sort, organize, deliver, and store parts and materials as needed and appropriate, in a timely routine manner and in accordance with the production schedule, making independent decisions with minimal direct supervision given appropriate instructions.
Key Deliverables
· Pull materials that are needed to fill orders.
· Develop forms that allow the organization to keep track of all materials.
· Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials.
· Operate needed equipment to move freight.
· Comply with all of Astec’s safety rules and guidelines.

· Maintain inventory levels by identifying, labeling, stocking, and recording materials and

· Transport heavy material using a forklift both inside and outside of buildings
· Determine production requirements by obtaining work orders
· Verify items and quantities on packing slips and receive or ship as necessary
· Package materials and parts in various containers for safe shipment to internal and external customers
· Communicate with internal customers while responding to material requests
· Develop bills of lading (loading) and delivery forms
· Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders
· Cycle count inventory as requested by supervisor
· Learn and utilize current inventory computer system
· Sort items according to destination and verify all items match with the purchase order
· Perform and document daily forklift inspections before operation
· Perform and document daily crane inspection before operation
· All other duties and responsibilities that are assigned
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
· 0-to-1-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Operating knowledge of Forklift a plus, but not required.
· Computer experience desired, particularly the ability to use a mouse, and locate and open/close files.
· Adept at problem-solving. Adaptable to new situations and challenges. Open to changes and new ideas.
· Ability to satisfactorily work alone with reasonable instructions, training, and supervision, and ability to work with others respectfully and professionally in a team environment.
· Ability to communicate, express one’s needs, and ask questions.
· Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed and written and/or oral instructions.
· Ability to handle the stress that accompanies production standards and deadlines.
· Ability to accept constructive criticism and make subsequent adjustments, and willingness to rework incorrect tasks completed by oneself or others.

Manufacturing Environment
Shop manufacturing environment exposures include exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection.
