JOB TITLE: Dental Hygienist
DEPARTMENT: Dental Health Services
FLSA: Full-Time; Hourly/Non-Exempt
DURATION: Open Until Filled
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Dental Hygienist promotes dental health by completing dental prophylaxis. In this role, you will provide oral cancer screening and radiographic studies, chart conditions of decay and disease, and perform procedures in compliance with the Dental Practice Act.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Completes dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and from beneath gum margins.
- Assist dentist with medical emergencies.
- Educates patients by giving oral hygiene and plaque control instructions and postoperative instructions, providing reminders of the time of the next dental hygiene visit.
- Ensures operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintains dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene or Certificate in Dental Hygiene. Registered Dental Hygienist required.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Knowledge of current sterilization and infection control procedures. Must possess current CPR certification.
HIRING RANGE: $30 to $40/hour (based on experience)
