Compensation: $21.00 - $22.00 per hour​​​
Program Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
Supervisory Responsibility: None
 
Position Summary

Under the direction of the Operations Manager and in consultation with the ETA (Employment Training Academies) Manager the Exceptional Works Coordinator is essential to the successful implementation and management of Exceptional Works programs overseeing the operational, curriculum and schedule of activities implementation for participants in the Exceptional Works programs (EWP)
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The EW (Exceptional Works) Coordinator addresses these challenges by providing focused guidance and support ensuring that all aspects of the EWP programs are aligned and delivered efficiently. The coordinator plays a pivotal role in:
 
  • Operational Efficiency:
  • Under the direction of the Operations Manager, monitor the operational tasks and workflow related to work contracts, skills training, educational training, the Exceptional Works Urban Garden, and community integration components.
  • Maintain quality control standards established by the Operations Manager, ensuring that each trainee understands acceptable practices and procedures. Provide comprehensive instruction to each assigned consumer on tasks, including the safe operation of machinery and the proper use of safety equipment (e.g., earplugs, safety goggles).
  • Accurately maintain daily records of consumer attendance, work and non-work hours, task production, pay rates, and earnings. Ensure the accuracy of each assigned consumer’s production sheet and review and sign all production/time sheets before submitting them to Insperity.
 
  • Curriculum Oversight and Implementation:
  • Collaborate closely with the ETA Program Manager to develop curriculum that emphasizes person-centered learning.
  • Ensure that daily activities for participants align with the approved curriculum and provide feedback to DSPs (Direct Support Professionals) and the ETA Manager, as necessary.
 
  • Communication and Collaboration:
  • Work directly with case managers to tailor participant activities to meet Individual Program Plan (IPP) goals. This collaboration is vital for integrating educational, psychological, and social objectives into daily activities, making the program more effective and responsive to participant needs, in accordance with the Lanterman Act and Person-Centered Thinking Practices.
  • Participate in staff meetings to identify challenges and implement approved strategies.
  • Provide ongoing support to DSPs by monitoring case notes, progress reports, and ensuring the quality of participant instruction.
 
  • Site and Safety Oversight:
  • Inspect work and shared areas at the start of each shift, after breaks, and as needed throughout the day to ensure aisles and exits are free of obstructions, and floors are clear of spills or other safety hazards. Organize and clean the work area and prepare tasks and materials for the following workday.
  • Account for all consumers under supervision after each break and lunch period. If any consumer has not returned within 10 minutes of the start time, report their absence to the case manager or supervisor.
  • Assist with closing the building at the end of each day, ensuring that no staff remains inside, and that all doors and security shutters are locked.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and promote and enforce a safe environment for all.
  • Implement duties that are related to the job description.
 
Other Duties
 
  • Comply with ECF’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program.  Ensure safe use and operation of tools and/or equipment.
  • Comply with ECF policies and procedures, including mandated reporting requirements. Implement ECF guidelines as they relate to medical emergencies, suspected abuse or neglect and unusual incidents. 
  • Assist facility staff during emergency medical situations include implementing First Aid, CPR, NCI, and transporting of consumers to home or medical facility if necessary.
  • Complete special projects and other assignments as designated by the Operations Manager and/or Academy Training Manager
  • Observe regular, on-site work hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
 
Education/Licenses/Certifications: High School Diploma

Experience: Three (3) years of experience in training/teaching individuals who have special needs in a direct client service capacity.

Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:
  • Proven ability to coordinate and direct shipping/receiving operations
  • Knowledge and proficiency in organization and maintenance of inventory for fulfillment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills
  • Proven ability to use shipping software, Excel, Word, and QuickBooks
  • Solid analytical and technical skills, excellent leadership, and human relations skills
  • Ability to organize, direct, and assess students in an apprentice training program
  • Knowledge in the safe operation of forklift and pallet jack

Other:
  • Proof of auto insurance and insurable driving record if using own vehicle for business purposes.
  • Ability to use public transportation or ECF vehicle to transport participants on community outings.
  • Pass a DOJ background investigation.
  • Provide evidence of a negative TB test initially and every three years thereafter.
 
Requirements
 
  • Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, evidence of car insurance, and insurable driving record.
  • Pass a DOJ background investigation.

  • Obtain and maintain NCI, First Aid and CPR and Medication Administration certification.
 
Work Environment

This is a program for adults who have varying degrees of learning, behavioral, emotional, and developmental disabilities. Employee may encounter consumers who are in crisis, exhibiting emotional/psychological distress or behaving in an aggressive manner.  Work will primarily be performed indoors in an office located in a production environment.  Some work will be performed in the field.  Environment may include frequent interruptions, loud noise, odors, varying indoor temperature and drafts.  Outdoor temperature and weather will vary.

Pay Range
