    This a full-time position. The hours are 8:00am-4:30pm Monday-Friday. 

    Under general supervision, the Sickle Cell Analyst is responsible for analyzing and interpreting complex health care data, leading the design of statistical analysis plans; managing data; performing statistical analyses independently; creating reports intended for internal and external audiences; creating presentations and white papers; and interfacing with health care providers, researchers, faculty, students, decision-makers and other stakeholders. This role involves conducting advanced data analysis, project management, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to identify gaps in SCD care and evaluate quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes and care processes for patients.  The Sr. Analyst will analyze local, regional and national data to inform the development of a comprehensive SCD clinic at HUH, standardized decision support tools for clinicians, and a SCD consultation service. The incumbent will partner with health care providers, and researchers to create innovative research projects and set a strategic path for research and data science innovation while ensuring the most rigorous, high-quality deliverables. This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Health Affairs.
     
    The Sickle Cell Analyst will:

    • Collect, analyze and interpret data related to SCD patient outcomes, care processes, and quality metrics. Data sources include clinical, claims and operational data.
    • Utilize statistical software and tools to interpret data and generate reports.
    • Conduct advanced data analyses to inform the development and implementation of an ambulatory/day hospital model targeting specific areas such as chronic pain management, reduced in-patient hospital days, reduced hospital readmission rates, and reduced hospital admissions from the ED for SCD patients.
    • Use evidence-based practices to measure the effectiveness of the day hospital model by evaluating outcomes such as: improved chronic pain management for SCD patients; increased shared decision-making; decreased hospital admission rates, in-patient days, and overall health care costs; reduced number of hospital visits to other facilities, reduced number of long-term hospitalizations of SCD patients, and reduced overall length/duration of hospital stays of SCD patients.
    • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor program and operational performance.
    • Create data visualizations to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders. Prepare detailed reports on quality improvement activities, outcomes, and recommendations for future initiatives. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all data projects.
    • Facilitate data meetings with the care team and other stakeholders to discuss progress, challenges, and share findings.
    • Work with healthcare providers, researchers, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide actionable insights. Train and mentor students/interns on data statistical analysis, interpretation and reporting.

    Qualified candidates will possess:

    • Master’s degree in epidemiology, public health, statistics, or a related field. Doctoral degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in healthcare data analysis, and advanced statistical analysis preferably with a focus on chronic diseases like SCD.
    • Strong understanding of health care systems and data.
